I think you need to understand that it is not religion that is making all these debates about Islam being bad, or any other religion being bad. It is the misconception about other religions, and the fanatism of our own religion creates rift among people. God is created to give us light when we are plunged in darkness, our survivor when we are in trouble, and our friend when we are lonely. God is both, a belief and Truth, and many people have different ideas, different beliefs, and different Truths. It is not the religion which has to go, but the misunderstanding between different people of different religions. Understand, please, that the end of religion will create a larger hatred in man against man, and only religion and faith can keep this in control. May God grant you light.

Absolutely, It is going to happen' pretty soon, It was written in Prophecies on mount of Olives ( Matthew 24, Luke 21 ), there will be no stone on top of the stone, all " Religions " will be destroyed. Or you can read in my favorite one Joel 2:17-32. You got some good hints there Bud. Check out " eXistenZ " by David Cronenberg, or even " V for Vendetta " by the dudes that have made " Matrix "

Absolutly!!! I think all the greif, and violence, and hatred in the world today, as well as in the past, can all find its roots somewhere in religious superstitions, and theological fables. Alot of what used to be not understood was explained away by giving it some religious overtone, and how dare you question that! Well ,i'd like to think we have grown beyond that. And just except the fact that Mother Nature is in full control of our destinies. You can do all the praying you want, start all the wars you want. But she is going to have her way.
If we could get over the fact that some entity, some guy in the sky is going to save us, and we take responsibility of our own. Then I think people would start to grow, or dare I say 'evolve' into the species that was mapped out by our own greatness to do wonderfull things on this earth for each other. I want to think as we get smarter and greater we learn from our past mistakes. Because,Yes, a mind is a terrible thing to waste!!! And what do we waste it on?????...........you guessed it..god!!

NO, as something new would pop up and go through all the phases the world religions have already gone through, like the Inquisition! Witch hunts, et al.

It seems innate that most humans need some sort of faith in a supreme being or the hereafter.

Well, as far as Man's religions with all it's hype and pumped up rituals, YES!

But I do not believe in throwing out the baby with the bathwater... so what we need is a revelation of who the true God is, and then get on with our lives in his kingdom.

I KNOW that the true God is the one who sent Jesus to the world, who we crucified (and STILL are crucifying in many ways)

There is coming a day when all shall know him, His name shall be one and then we will see what a beautiful thing it is to live in His kingdom of Love and Peace where the wolf dwells with the lamb and the snakes don't bite and the lions are vegetarians! (Isaiah 11:6-9)

Definately. Most wars are caused by relgion. However, many people gain hope from religion. So what can we do? Restrict belief to peaceful religions like Buddhism? I'm sure Christians and Muslims wouldn't like that, so we still have another 'holy war' on our hands don't we?

Yes, for the most part, it's one quality is that it brings people together for a common good, now because they seem not to practice it in their daily lives is another story. Judge not less ye
be judged, seems to be a misunderstood concept, for I see all these so called Christians judging and quoting from a book that is 10 percent God and 90 percent the laws of man not knowing it's history in the least bit, ignorance is bliss .. for some of us. peace out.

Well, you would be getting the bad and good. The bad is that they may not have good judgment and want to kill everyone and think nothing about it. The good would be that maybe some of the fanatics would be maybe doing something else, perhaps good, perhaps bad, but if it would not be religion to fight about it would be who got the most apples off the tree. It is just something that man does, and that is fight.

I can sum it up simply by saying that more people have died at the hands of organized religion, that that of organized crime. In my opinion however, they should be considered the same.

religion has definitely caused so many wars and problems but spirituality, to me is still fine and good. belief systems, as long as they are personal and noone tries to inculcate values, are still okay too..just as long as we let everyone believe what they want to believe. that's my two cents worth
