Christians speak of freewill as if it is some gift... It's simply the way it is. I guess you could say that evolution gave us freewill since it resulted in our intellect and our intellect is the basis for freewill. Animals have freewill as well, they also don't believe in god or hell.

We don't have any freewill to speak of. Yes, you could go jump in the lake. But then you would have to think... was it just 'cos I suggested it? Haha.. think about it. When you were born you did not get to choose your parents or where you all lived and grew up. You did not get to choose the predominant religion in that area where you grew up. Most of the time you are lucky that you didn't choose to dig yourself a deeper hole as far as debt goes every day of your life. Unless you 'chose' to be rich I guess. Good luck with choosing to be rich... that's why you spend your free time yachting, and skiing in Aspen and 'wintering' in the Bahamas and asking questions on Y!A. It's free will ... that's right.

What living creature has no free will? Find one, honestly. Even ants, in their limited ways, make decisions.
Or on the other hand can you yourself be said to truly exercise free will, or are you constrained by the requirements of your society and environment.
Free will is a nice idea, but if it is real it is general, not just for humans.
