Don't ever discourage a child from playing with a toothbrush unless you want a teenager with decayed teeth some day. Buy extra toothbrushes and toothpaste and put them in every room of the house. It is a good thing.

Children like to do what adults do, especially around this age. They often want to vacuum, do the dishes, mow the lawn, go "shopping", etc. Your son has his own toothbrush and toothpaste, just like grownups, and he likes being a big boy.
He may also be trying to brush the teeth of family pets, stuffed animals or other toys. This is all very normal and pretty cute!

be careful, its picking up germs that way, eating toothpaste can be very bad for a child, and if he runs about with the toothbrush in his mouth he could fall and puncture his soft pallate

my child do have this habbit, as long as he knows to take care of hygiene and learning on his own its always better.
Give him some time and teach him what the brush does and what is toothpaste meant for ...i am sure he wont mess with it

depends on how he's playing with it. this has to be your first child or you wouldn't even be thinking about it. You'd just pick it up with the rest of the junk.

Didn't you every hear of the kid who fell with it in his mouth and jabbed it into the back of his throat? He lived thanks to his mom not pulling it out. so the surgeons could get the bleeding under control then pull it out.
