i really like my guy best friend and he said he liked me too. Now he likes someone else and is depressed over them. He barely knows this girl yet he's willing to risk everything for her. Why didn't i get this chance when he "liked" me? Why did he have to fear that our friendship would be ruined? Maybe i wasn't good enough for him.

it wasnt you. dont think it was just because he likes someone else. at times there is a special someone who takes your breath away and you would do anything to be with them even though they dont feel the same. you might have felt the same. sometimes you only get one chance so you need to take every opportunity and dont let fear run your life.but all hope is not lost. if your willing to wait stay his friend, and who knows he may come back.

He feared it cause there is a rule where your not supposed to cross the friendship into relationship line. Somewhat unfortunate though. Should have taken the chance when you had it. But for now look elsewhere, See how you feel in a few months. Things change along with opportunities that come and go.

sweetie, I swear I was MEANT to read this question!!! you see, I'm in the opposite situation...my guy best friend just told me over the weekend that he loves me and I'm the one saying /thinking NO I DONT WANT TO RUIN THE FRIENDSHIP!!! So let me please say to you...maybe he actually cares so much for your friendship that he is scared to ruining it! Maybe he cares about you SOOO MUCH and doesnt want to risk messing up what you guys have!!! (friendship). I can give you the other perspective and I can tell you in my situation I care for my best guy friend LOADS but I just am not at that stage that I want to / can take that leap into more...you see if its with someone you barely know (like you friend and the girl he likes) there's nothing to lose it it flops...but if its with a best friend , well there;s best friendship at stake so just stick it out, be a friend to him and if nothing comes of it ever , well you have a great friend OR who knows, something one day could develop. either way its win win!

I don't think it was that you weren't good enough for him. I really think that he really cherished your friendship and didn't want to lose that.

He just didn't like you that way, only as a friend.
