If you want professional ones, go to your local hallmark, UPS, or party supply store. They will have books with invitation samples that you can look through and choose from many styles and colors. They will usually have a wide selection so whether you're looking for low or high end on prices, there is a little of everything.

The previous answers are correct. This is not a cut and dry answer. My invitations were fairly classy, however I was realistic and knew that most people would not rsvp so I skipped that part. I bought envelopes and bought cardstock at walmart and tracing paper at hobby lobby. We also had engagement pictures taken (which was our choice but you could use a non-professional picture that you like and take it to walmart and have copies made in wallet size photos). We made about 200 invitations for about $40 (not including the pictures). I cut the 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock into 4 equal pieces. I printed the invitation on the tracing paper and cut it into the same size pieces. Then I put the picture at the bottom of the cardstock (where it could be seen under the tracing paper) and tied the two pieces together at the top with inexpensive ribbon, matching our wedding colors. I also added embossed silver wedding bells under the ribbon, but it would look just as nice without it. I did use double envelopes, but I used a clear plastic envelope for the outer envelope. It was different, and not as heavy as foil lined, so we saved on postage.

I used coupons to buy DIY kits at 1/2 price then I bought some supplies and dressed them up. I got LOTS of compliments on them. I had the invites, RSVP cards, and envelopes for both. The main invite was lasercut with the word "LOVE" on top and some fancy scroll designs. I bought a backing paper in one of my wedding colors so the lasercut design stood out more. I bought a ribbon-hole punch & ribbon and dressed up the invites with ribbon and I had a little rhinestone in the middle for some sparkle. I know this sounds like a kids art project, but it came out REALLY nice. And I figured out that I spent just under 90-cents per invite (not including postage). I had looked at invitation places but they all wanted so much money for them. Invites often get tossed after the wedding, the only people that might keep 'em are the couple and their parents. I couldn't justify spending $3-$5 for cheapies or more for nicer ones when I could do something pretty myself for soooo much less (and when you need to buy 150 invites, even the cheap ones were coming in about $500 to have someone else make 'em).

Sorry i gave you a bad rating. Wedding invitations vary widely in the price range. Always order too many, it is way cheaper than having to reorder a small amount. I made my own invitaions for about 60 for all of them. The fancier they are the more they cost!

There are so many different factors. Do you want them ordered out of a catalog or custom made or make your own? Then you have to decide on the texture of paper, fonts, how many inserts you want, etc, etc. Square invites of any size are charged differently for postage. If you decide to make them yourself, you have to decide if your time is worth the extra cost or would you be better off having someone else make them?

If you make your own I suggest checking out www.paperandmore.com. They have beautiful paper for less that you will find it anywhere else. They also have matching envelopes and will custom cut your paper to whatever size you like.
If you want to check out prices for professionally printed invitations, there are many websites you can look at. Check out www.jeanm.com for some really cool ideas and pricing.

It really depends on what you want. You can order the pretty ones on line for a decent price. I have even seen sets that you can run through your own printer at Target. Just look around and compare.

That depends on the invitation you select and the number you order.
When budgeting, don't forget postage for the invitation AND the response card!!!!

depends on how fancy you want yours to be... something complex can cost you hundred of dollars where as simple invitations that you can print on yourself and fold can go to about $50-100.
