My cat has a habit of drinking out the toilet when shes in heat. When she's finished drinking she makes this awful cry that wakes everyone in the house. (She only does this at night) I dont know what to do. It has gotten so bad that the neighbors call and complain about it. She "goes through heat" every month or even twice or three times. Its been like this since she turned 1 this past August.

That noise you hear is called "catterwauling", and that's what cats do when they are "in heat". Look, get the cats fixed. That will end the noise problem.

As for the toilet problem, you might be stuck with that one. Mine love to drink out of the faucet in my bathroom, or in my bathtub, and they love to watch the water go swirling down in the toilet when it gets flushed. But I never seen them drink out of it. That's not to say they don't when I'm gone, but, oh well, that's cats for ya......they love (and hate) water! [just keep the lid down]. And get that cat FIXED, before you end up with about a dozen more new bundles of love....

Hi there...female cats have been known to do unsual things when they go into heat aside from their long-going catterwaulings. Spaying her would be the only solution to discontinue the estrus/heat cycles unless your are trying to breed her. Nearly all animal shelters will do a low fee spay (e.g. $25-45 for female spay) and some will do it for free if you meet their low income qualifications. If you reside in the US you consider contacting Spay USA (1-800-248-SPAY) to locate a shelter nearby who can do this for you. Here's their website: http://www.spayusa.org/

My cat loves to drink out of the toilet. That's not an issue for me and it shouldn't be for anyone else. The water's colder. ;)
As far as the crying goes, get her spayed. You can ask your local shelter or vet who does low cost spay/neuter.
Trust me, everyone will be thankful!

The best solution is to get her fixed. Better for her, and you.

Also, if she is drinking out of a toilet, please be careful. If you use a "puck" for cleaning or even regular cleaners, she can get poisoned very easily. (residue from cleaning can kill cats)

She may like one of the pet fountains at Walmart if she likes cold water. :)

get her fixed, keep the toilet lid down, and shes doing it because urine holds sex hormones that shes seeking, like shes hunting a guy, for heavens sake you should have had her fixed at 6 months, once they go in heat and arent fixed they are eligble for breast cancer, i lost two cats to this.

Get her fixed and that will stop. You should get her spade anyway so that she won't get pregnant. There are too many cats that need homes and will be put to sleep if no one adopts them so it's your duty to have her fixed. Thanks!
