My Girlfriend is on Birth Control. If she skips the "Period Pills" and takes the regular pills...will she skip her period that month? She needs advice. Thank you.

You mean she's on the 28 day cycle with the 7 (usually green) pills that you take while having your period?

They're placebos - they only exist to remind you to keep taking the pills every day. If she just doesn't bother taking them and starts a new package 7 days later, she'll have the same period she'd have had if she took them.

If she doesn't take them and starts a new package instead, she won't have a period.

Yes, she will skip her period if she skips her placebos and starts a new pack. It is not unhealthy and she doesn't need to worry about toxins being flushed out. It's perfectly fine.

They even make a pill marketed specifically for that reason but, it is no different than other pills. It's called Seasonalle. There is also talk about another regular pill with a market spin coming out soon that will involve only one period a year but, the pill won't be any different than 28 and 21 day pills.

Women have been using 'the pill' to skip periods long before the markets caught hold of it. Ask any doctor and they will say "it's safe."

Don't listen to any other advice here. This is completely normal and okay. I have been taking the pill continously for over 5 years (every 5 months or so I go off). I have not had a period in that time and it is the greatest thing ever. I have spoken to many different doctors about this and they all say it is completely fine. It can actually be beneficial in some cases (iron defeciencies, etc). Drug manufacturers have come out with a pill pack of only 21 days, meant exactly for this use. There is nothing to be afraid of. Skip the period, its not necessary and she won't be missing anything!

If she skips the placebos (period pills) she will not have a period. She will still be protected against pregnancy.

However, if she misses even one day, her period will start. It's a real hassle then, so make sure she doesn't miss a day.

There are special brands of pills that only make 3 periods per year, she could get that Rx instead. May end up cheaper in the long run.

Talk to a doctor. Take a pregnancy test to be 100% sure. Even with pills, condoms and plan b, they aren't 100% effective. Only abstinence is. Even if you are using birth control, there is still a remote chance an unwanted pregnancy can still happen.

yep. I had ovarian cysts and was instructed to continually take double dose for 3 straight months, NO WEEK LONG BREAKS. It was kind of nice. But they do make pill packs now that only give you a period once every three months. It's not going to kill you.

yes she will. i have done this many times. b/c i didn't want to be on my period while on a vacation. she should know that the longer she does it (more than 2 months) the more likely her period will be quirky wherein she may have spotting for a day, even though she's on the pill. once she lets the period happen things will return to normal ... at least they did for me.

Yes, she will not get her period. Many people I know do this if they dont want to have it while on holidays etc. I even know a girl who does it all the time so she never gets her period. Don't know if that would be advisable though.

if she extend taking period pills, her period will also move, don't do that always, just for special occasions or event only, because your period will not be normal, your body will always adjust to your pills

I'm not sure but if that does work, I wouldnt suggest doing it. Having a period get rid of toxins that build up in a womans body over the month. I mean come on why wouldnt you want to get dead tissue out of your system?
