The other question someone asked was " If God wanted to...etc". I thought that wrongly laid evil soley on God. Here most of you suggest that Man is evil and cannot expell that in others. Amazing how inverting the question changes perspective so dramatically.

Edit: Tourist, you have acknowledged that men are evil and you still blame God for not stepping in. God gave free will, so we have no excuses. Besides, which is more likely? A supreme intelligence known as God, or all men on earth deciding to be good to each other all at once? All men deciding to do right is the more fanciful daydream, I think.

Yes, if you gave every single person, every single thing they ever wanted. Evil doesn't exist. People only hate each other because they're insecure; you give them what they want, and they act nice.

Yes, but the decision to be kind must be made by every person on the face of this earth. If everyone decided to not commit evil acts there would be no more evil. Certainly praying all day long for some supreme thing to change the world is not working. If their is a god he allows bad things to happen. Therefore God is a sadistic voyeur, he has power to stop evil and yet he lets it continue.

No. Man would have to agree on what "evil" was. Talk to a Muslim it's one thing, talk to Baptist it's another, talk to Tom Cruise, well, who knows? Bottom line, the world would have to agree on the essence of evil and that would never happen. If by some miracle there could be an agreement then, assuming there is a Supreme Being, this agreement would have to coincide with His (Her's). What are the chances of all this happening? Start from none and work your way down.

Yay humanists! Still, I don't think all evil will ever be gone because no matter how hard each person tries, we all bring a little evil to life. I feel we remove large problems like those between countries and remove hunger, but I think everyone will always have a bit off evil to fight.

For now, no. Even if it were possible to reprogram all humans, natural evils, like tsunamis and cancer, would still exist.
BTW, humanists do not believe in "man's supreme will". Humanism is simply the idea that all humans are valuable.

NO man could not. The evil is really inside of man already and only if all of mankind willingly committed suicide but that is not the answer...

If you can clearly define what is evil, then yes.
There are things in the world that is borderline cases, some people consider evil some other don't. it depends on background and cultural beliefs.
Anyhow, I do believe people can be as good as he/she were taught.

Rabid,
No. Man is evil. So, unless he got rid of all of us, and himself, there will always be evil on the earth. And then there is Satan and his angels. How to get rid of them? God does it. Man cannot.

No. Without Evil there would be no Good. Evil is wrought by peoples actions which no one can control. We all do evil and we all do good.

NOBODY but God can complete this task. He is the one with all of the power, not those of us on earth. We cannot even stop sinning because we are not perfect.
