Why does it cost so much to adopt a child, I don't understand, if you have a stable job, and a loving home, why can't the system work with you? I am 34 and can't have children, but they want so much up front, yet there are children everyday, getting abused, molested, and just more or less thrown away, I know I would make a good mommy. Does anyone know any sites I can go to for more information on adopting a child, without having to have soo much up front? You would think providing a loving and stable home would account for something. Yet, also I have never been married, I don't see why that would make a difference, I don't depend on a man to support me.

are you looking to adopt an infant or an older child? Alot of the time, if you go through your local Foster Care program, they can help you out.. you can foster a kid, become perminate gaurdian or adopt the child.. Department of Human Services- Child Services will help you petition the court and what-not to adopt the child, after the child has been with you under perminate gaurdianship for 1 year.. my parents were going to do that with one girl we had for almost 2 years on foster care, but my mom fell terminally ill and we had to let her go..

It depends on the type of adoption you are looking for. International is usually pretty expensive. (A coworker of my dads spent 40 grand to adopt a russian boy)

Domestic adoptions are usually cheaper but can depend on whether you want an older child, a special needs child, or an infant/newborn.

Also, try looking into fostering to adopt programs. Those are usually pretty reasonable (most of the time you just pay court fees) Or you can get an adoption attorney and look for birthmothers through them.

Being single or married should not make a difference as long as you can provide for the child. That is usually what a home study would determine, whether or not you can meet the childs needs emotionally, physically, and financially.

I would google domestic adoptions in your area and go from there. Or contact your child services office and see what you can do.

You're right, it isn't logical or fair.

This organization can provide a list of parent support groups in a specific region of the United States.

This very unfortunate. Have you considered being a foster parent. You have to take a couple of classes, but there are many foster kids who also need loving homes.
