I use hot iron to straighten my hair. I use it once or twice a week. Will it damage my hair? I have been using it since 2 or 3 months and have had no problems so far but I'm not sure if it can be used on a regular basis. Please give me your valuable suggestions. I really need them.

There is no severe damage if you protect it properly. Make sure when you straighten your hair that it is coated with a protecting product. I like http://www.matrix.com/products/sleek_look/iron_smoother.aspx
this product. It also makes your hair shiny and smell yummy. Also, make sure to deep condition your hair at least once a week. Oh, and make sure you use a ceramic straightener. Stylists usually recommend a Chi flat iron.

My friend and I have used a clothing Iron on our hair everyday for like 3 months. and our hair is fine. I wouldn't use it for like a year or anything. it will most likely make your hair very dry, so you should spray leave-in conditioner before you use the iron. you can also get a hair straighten, they work great! (me and my friend both bought one, we were getting sick of the iron! lol )

yeah, you are using it pretty often. i suggested using a hot oil treatment, then pressing your hair- at night wrap it in a scarf. The reason at nigh is if you press and then sleep it gives a chanace to set without interfence from the weather, and it will last a week. It's okay to straighten your hair once a week

You can put any thermal flat iron or curlers in your hair as long as you use a hair protectant to protect the hair from the high heat....Dudley's Creme Press is excellent, it doesn't leave the hair stiff and dry it ats as a very lite hair conditioner and works well...

It is ok to use it if u use a moisturizer, a conditioner and get a trim every 45 days or 2 months to prevent the damage..

yea eventually it does damage your hair. you should go to your salon and ask them for some heat protect cream that you could put on your hair before you flat iron it. i will help but heat damages your hair so be careful

If you use a leave in conditioner (so you don't burn your hair) and use a flat iron with ceramic plates (I've heard that CHI is the best) you will be fine sweetie. ♥

Stop doing that !!!!!........or you'll be bald before you know it. It damadges your hair more than perming or straightening .If using a hot iron to straighten hair was ok, don't you think saloonists will be out of a job????????!!!!!!!!
