"The Catholic Church embraces with hope the commitment to ecumenism as a duty of the Christian conscience enlightened by faith and guided by love…Jesus himself, at the hour of his Passion, prayed 'that they may all be one' (John 17:21). -- Pope John Paul II, Ut Unum Sint, May 25, 1995.
The Catholic Church already has the following open dialogues with her sister Churches:
- The North American Orthodox-Catholic Theological Consultation
- The Joint Committee of Orthodox and Catholic Bishops
- The Oriental Orthodox-Roman Catholic Consultation
- The Polish National Catholic-Roman Catholic Dialogue
- The Anglican-Roman Catholic Consultation USA
- The Lutheran-Catholic Dialogue
- Roman Catholic-Reformed Consultation
- The United Methodist-Catholic Dialogue
- Southern Baptist Convention-Catholic Dialogue
- The Evangelical-Catholic Dialogue
- Faith and Order Commission, National Council of Churches of Christ in the USA
- Consultation with the National Council of Synagogues
- Consultation with the Orthodox Union and the Rabbinical Council of America
And these are only the ones in the US. There are many others all over the world.
Here is the joint declaration of justification by Catholics (1999), Lutherans (1999), and Methodists (2006):
By grace alone, in faith in Christ's saving work and not because of any merit on our part, we are accepted by God and receive the Holy Spirit, who renews our hearts while equipping us and calling us to good works.
With love in Christ.

There will always be wars and disagreemtns no matter how many dialogues each faith has, there will always be people or individually for that matter who will start up something which can lead to arguments, fights, wars etc, this has been happening since religion began, all we can do is just do the best we can and guide people and forgive if they dont want to b guied or forigiven then let them be and we concentrate on our lives and do what we suppose to do practice your religion as much as you can or if your not religious then try to be good person and respect other people's faith, because if an individual causes trouble that does not mean the religion itself, Judaisnm Christanity, Islam ar every simmilar, Islam says respect these religiond and respect abd value human beings, but Islam has not been changed during the years whereas Old testoment , bible has unfourtunately and so therefore there will always be certian individiuals who use and will use verses which say this is right and this is the way when other religions disagree, there is always a dialoge between these faiths you have mentioned but also there will always be disagreements different people of thesee faiths, we are in a no win no lose situation and as i said we just concentrate on our life and respect eachother and guide eachtoher if not then we just hel ourselves individually and live life on how each of us want to live and best way for that is not make trouble not to criticise other people ad their faiths, just be kind and enjoy life because we all individually will be judged, all we can do is help those in need, no matter what faiths they are or what disagreements we might have, just do your best to good and be right. PEACE!!

There have been dialogues between the major religions for ages. There are ecumenical organizations right now meeting regularly in the US. Do a Y! search for "ecumenical". Of course these organizations aren't in any position to affect peace between warring groups.
Thing is that the conflicts (say Israel/Palestine) has gone on so long and the wounds so deep that the dispute is more complex than just a difference in beliefs. The hate is imbedded in the culture. And political and military actions just keep it alive. In the early 1990's both parties came to realize that the only way out was to acknowledge eachother's right to exist. Nevertheless people opposed to the peace process were active on both sides. And in '95 someone killed the Jewish prime minister.
It really isn't religion that's driving it as much as religious identity and nationalistic pride and prejudice.

Yes it could be possible, not all Muslims are extremist and terrorist, and the Catholic religion even tho it has alot of man made stuff, like baptism of infants, purgatory, confession etc. The catholic religion does teach you to have a reverence for God.
I don't agree with everything from all religions either, but there is no reason why we can't get along even tho we disagree on things. You can't judge all religions just because there are a few bad eggs in the group that make it worse for others.

We do have a dialogue. Catholics say "We don't worship Mary" and the Protestants say "Yes you do, you are liars" This is the dialogue. Now, how can this become something that is fruitfull? It cannot--the truth and Lies have nothing in common and can not be compromised. Catholics have the fullness of truth and will not give it up nor should they.

They are different sects or churches. Catholics follow the pope who resides in the Vatican. Protestants do not follow the pope. The have slight different beliefs with regards to interpretation of the bible? Am I right? Yes I do think that there was more of a relationship with the Islamic world before but the current pope doesn't seem to like Islam. I have nothing against catholics or protestants

Don't get me wrong I am not being sarcastic. That is what we are doing here in sorts. There are ignorant people in here who do not care to acquire knowledge. You do make a good point. I have no chosen religion I only choose spirituality simply because I cannot agree with one religion. This page has further strengthened my choice. The differences between each individual person and societies is what makes us human.

Dialogue is necessary. Dialogue is needed. I believe that ignorance is the main cause of hatred in the world today. With more dialogue, there will be more understanding and more peace in the world today.

Actually such dialogue was initiated by former Pope and was supposed to be taken a step further by the current Pope.

Religions gain converts by manipulating human insecurities. This makes the converts feel an emotional connection with the group. They are also indoctrinated to be intolerant of other groups, for fear of them deconverting members.
This makes dialog between any religious groups fraught with unpleasantness.
