I live in Sydney, and although I have never been to New York I know it is a LOT smaller! We only have approx 5 million in Sydney

It is a very beautiful place and you dont have to travel more than an hour or two to see some spectacular natural beauty

Sydney is significantly smaller than NYC. That means it is missing some big-city adventures but is much easier to get around in. It also has that unique relationship to the harbor that New York used to have but has now replaced with a commercial rather than a recreational harbor side.

Travel costs in Sydney (hotels, meals, transportation) are also much smaller than in NYC.

Smaller, far more provincial and far less interesting than New York.
