universe is actually 16 billion years* old.
*note: time is slowing down, and in fact, it used to be much much faster. the six day creation has been proven by modern quantum physics. i'll leave the link so those who are really seeking answers can look it up themselves, and the dust kickers can just um...go kick some dust :-p

According to one theory the universe is forever expanding and collapsing on itself. So maybe this time around, the universe is between 12-18 billion years old, but it could have been around for trillions of years before that. In Islam, there is a belief that there are multiple universes (science is also proving this to be true) so how can we limit ourselves to just this universe and it's age.
in reality God who created all of this is Infinite and Eternal... Time and Space do not effect or limit God in any way, shape or form. God is the first and the last.

The word universe is the wrong term to be used. Cosmos will be the right word. Yes it is 13 billion years old or may be a little more. If you believe in bible, then God is only 5300 yrs old. Not more.
So truth is out, our mother earth is older than god. I'm happy. there were human civilizations before god started his creation. Scientists again again proved right. Well done , guys. Keep discovering, lead us from darkness of religion to light of knowledge. Tamasoma jyotirgamaya.

If your family doctor had examined Adam a day after he was created, the doctor would probably say he was about 18 years old. I think the scientists made the same mistake with the "13 billion years". God made things to already be aged to the point He wanted them to be.

Time is just the moving 4th dimesion of our expanding universe. We know that before the Big Bang spacial dimesions did not exist, neither did time.
I know it is hard to understand but science says there was no time before the Big Bang.
If there is a God he would be the exact age as the universe!
However this has nothing to do with God. Science does not seek to explain religion; and religion should not seek to explain science. Frankly I don't believe religions answer. Mabey that will change in the future?

It means scientist don't have a clue what they are talking about, because for all of there experiments, not one has been all around the universe, so they are just guessing how old the universe is based on how red something is(long story). God is infinite, He is older than the universe, but I think he was just eternally here, very hard to comprehend, but when you get to heaven, I am sure he will be happy to clear it all up for you.

yes God is eternal before everything! The first earth age before the garden of Eden when satan was still a good guy was billions of years ago! Satan rebelled and God destroyed that creation demoted satan and cast him to the earth. Then our bible starts and Gods spirit hovered above the waters of the earth he just destroyed and took from satan, and he recreated the Garden of Eden and we started the second dispensation of time and it will continue till the second coming of Christ, and then the final destiny! Eternity with the Lord. If your lucky! Yes the world and universe and father God are ancient!

The universe is not that old, God made the universe with age and it would appear to someone that doesn't know God that it was that old.
We do not know how old God is because he lives in eternity and we live in time. The whole concept of eternity is difficult for us to grasp, but time was made for man and our system of living here on earth. This is like another dimension and very different..
There is no past, present, or future for God, all is present for him. How can we grasp that as our whole concept of life is based on it..
Everything exists because God is causing it to exist and continue to exist. To actually try to understand God and how he works outside of reading the Bible is like an ant trying to understand how men went to the moon. A quantum leap for antkind.

Since "God" according to the Bible is the one who created the universe, he was never born and never died.
God according to believers does not age with time: he is infinite.

BY our measurement of what we think of as time yes.
If scientific theory is correct then when the CREATOR made its self out of the chaos that was before. the Creator is a intelligent energy being that has no beginning or end. as energy cannot be created or destroyed only changed.
The change may be from chaos to order and back again.
