Jesus always referred to himself as having been sent by God (John 17:3) and his followers, too, considered him a man approved by God (Qur'an 19:37; Acts 2:22, John 3:2).
Jesus prayed to God like all other God-fearing individuals (Luke 5:16), and engaged in spiritual exercises such as fasting (Matt 4:2). Furthermore, Jesus lacked knowledge of the future (Mark 13:32), as only the Divine Being possesses perfect and complete knowledge.

Jesus (On whom be peace) was not God, there is only ONE God. Jesus was a Prophet sent by God to confine to the Children of Israel. (Qur'an 3:50, Matt. 10:5-6; 15:24)
"And he (Jesus) went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed..."-(MATTHEW 26:39).

And, behold, one came and said unto him (Jesus), "Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?" And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? There is none good but One, that is God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the Commandments.-(MATTHEW 19:16-17

Jesus prayed to God because that's God's way for humans to address Him. If Jesus were God, why would he need to pray to himself? People who believe in the trinity will try to make the Bible say that Jesus is God. Some will point to John 8:58, where Jesus used the expression "I am" in some Bibles, but not all. In that verse, where does it say that God is made up of three co-equal, co-eternal persons? It doesn't. How about John 10:30, where Jesus said: "I and the Father are one"? Again, where does it say that three divine persons make one God? It doesn't. And besides, in this verse, only the Father and Jesus are even mentioned. What about John 1:1? There it says in some Bibles: "the Word was God ." Again, does this verse even remotely imply that God is composed of three co-equal persons? No. The simple truth is that Jesus never said he was God. Instead, he is the SON of God. Nothing more, nothing less.

Jesus prayed out loud so that normal humans could learn how, when, and why to pray to God. He was a great example in all he did for us mankind. Why should praying be any different? I too, before I became a Christian wondered why Jesus would pray when he already should know the answer, the Why of it. I'm not that versed in the Bible yet, but this is what I could come up with. There are many questions that can be asked of the Bible, but do know that it is all TRUE! GOOD LUCK ;-)

Jesus very life was a living example, he was showing us by his actions how to pray to the father and get the attention of him and the heavenly host! Jesus is God, Lord, and creator, and king. Jesus is the exact physical representation of a God or spirit. But the same Identity, different manifestation of himself! Father, the mind and spirit that covers all creation and holds all things together, Jesus, himself manifested king over all created! God was before anything created. So he spoke and the spirit manifested the kingdom of light and from there he created the physical universe, while all the time transcending all time and space! Then he came as a man in the physical to tell us of the secret invisible kingdom of light , of which he created and was king over! And that our destiny was to get back there, were we came from, or where our soul came from before the physical creation. I know this is deep but seek and you shall find!

The Quran does not tell everything that the deciples of Jesus witnessed, and herd Jesus teach. You will not find the truth about Jesus in the Quran. Only in The Bible will you find the truth about Jesus.
Jesus is,and was,and still is the only begotton SON OF GOD: This is proven by the (word of God),and the (word of Jesus) as God gave him to preach unto mankind.

I am going to answer your original question. He prayed because everything that he did was an example of what a human being should do and live. He spoke to God the Father because that is what we are told to do in the name of the son Jesus.
Jesus left his divinity and came to earth as a human being and to be the sacrafice for our sins. If you want to know what to do or how to live, imitate the life of Jesus Christ..

Everything He did was to show us by example what we should do. But He talked to His father in Heaven because He is part of the eternal Holy Trinity. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Three eternal divine persons, but the three make one God.

Where ever the Father is, so is the Son and the Holy Spirit. Where ever the Son is, so is the Father and Holy Spirit. Where ever the Holy Spirit is, so is the Father and the Son. This is a mystery of God.

When Jesus Christ lived on earth he was a complete human being that's why he himself addressed as son of man.

God is able to do any thing, as you say Allah can do any thing.

For example, you have your mind to think, but your body does the things right? still unless you have the life in you your body can't do whatever the mind says right?

GOD decides and the WORD does things SPIRIT is the life. Jesus Christ was the WORD of God who took the mortal flesh.

Jesus Christ (WORD) prayed to God to show the people how to pray and respect God. Jesus Christ always did what GOD has commanded as we do what our mind ask us to do with our body which has life.

As our MIND, BODY and LIFE is one, GOD, WORD (Jesus Christ the Son) and HOLY SPIRIT are one.

Jesus the son of Mary PBUT was one of the most devoted servants of the One and only true God Allah and this is the reason he prayed to Him. God doesn't need sons, daughters, wives, or partners. He is One and Only and owns every body and every thing.

Jesus prayed because he needed to pray.

His praying was not a charade or play-acting; it meant something. He prayed not just to give a model to be copied by his disciples; he prayed because he belonged to that species, man, of whom it is said that they 'ought...to pray.'

He sought refuge under the shadow of the Almighty. He renewed his innermost being in the strength of God and found courage for the ordeals of living in his very real confidence in his Father.

He prayed because he was a man--fully and genuinely man."
