That's taking things a little too far... Only 3.5% of the registry is considered dangerous... That means 96.5% are no threat... What is the government doing to it's own citizens?

They're put on the registries, because the federal government pays states to expand the number of people who are listed. When they ran out of the molesters and rapists (both real and false accusations), they had to find other offenders. So they placed these people on them. In California, if you were cited for streaking in the 1970s, you're probably on the registered sex offender list because California's registry goes back to 1947.

It's all about money, conservative and puritanical politics and votes. It's sickening!

Are you serious? Is this true? Good thing it wasn't back in the 60's and 70's, a whole generation of skinny dippers would be on the registry!! There ought to be some line between perverts and just silliness........what a world!

When the concept of criminality is watered down with religious nonsense, we all become criminals in their morality of death. Don't they already consider us guilty of some inexplicable sin from birth? Exposing your body is not a crime, and I won't stand for it any longer. People were more free 50 years ago to express themselves than they are today! It's a travesty of justice. An immoral crime against humanity and human existence. The only reasonable definition of crime is the use of force against others. Anything else, while possibly stupid or wasteful, is NOT A CRIME.

I dunno where you get your statistics, they are blatantly false ... however, indecent exposure is considered a sexual crime because you are displaying your sexual organs to the public at large (or small as the case may be) ...

Don't do the crime,
If you cant do the time!

For the rest of you whiners, all it takes to change a law is a ballot initiative and enough votes to strike it down ... if its that important to you, DO something about it or shut up! FYI, most offenders get a citation for public nudity and a small fine and are NOT put on the sexual offenders list... repeat offenders do wind up there.

Because for some reason, people in this country are super offended by nudity. It makes me sad how conservative this country is.

because they exposed themselves in public, i do not agree with this, but i do nto agree with your numbers where did you get those from, only 34.98% of all statistics are made up, and 89.44% will change when given out.
