The more water you drink, the better for your health and body. It flushes your body and keeps your insides clean. Drinking lots of water is the best thing that you can do prevent wrinkling of your skin. Water helps to take out the toxins in our body and keeps us healthy. There are no side effects of drinking lots of water.

You should be fine with 240 oz a day. As long as you're eating appropriate meals to keep up your electrolytes this isn't overhydration. Its recommended that you drink no more than 32 oz per hour and no more than 8 qt(250 some oz) per day. Of course although this may not be harmful, unless you are doing a lot of strenuous activity that causes you to sweat a lot you could probably do with less water. If you feel like you're drinking too much water for no reason, see a doctor because along with other symptoms it could be a more serious health issue.

There are always exceptions to every rule but generally speaking, 240 ounces per day would be too much water over an extended period of time. Too much water can deplete sodium and potassium stores in your body that can quickly lead to serious health problems.

i think so. in the ideal world, humans should drink only 80 ounces a day to stay healthy. 240 is three times what is needed. it can make your body wash out all the other nutrients you need. however, if you are exposed to heat or working out a lot you will need more that the ideal 80 ounces (which is about 10 cups) per day. but i think it shouldn't go near 240 (30 cups per day).

YOU CAN DRINK TOO MUCH WATER

You loose salt and electrolytes when you urinate and sweat. People who have a compulsion to keep drinking water deplete their stores over time, and run the risk of having a heart attack (your heart needs electrolytes to run). However, were talking like gallons a day here.

The 8 glasses a day estimate is awful... it doesn't take into account different body sizes or the inherent water present in the food you eat (which can account for most of the water you need).

So, it depends on your body. If most of your urinations are completely clear, you are probably drinking too much water. Your body is just dumping excess water all the time and you are loosing salt and electrolytes each time.

Unless you are a day laborer in the Sahara, yes.

I recommend 0.5 oz per pound of weight each day (e.g., if you weigh 160 lbs, you need 80 oz of water each day). More if you are working strenuously or dealing with high temperatures. Caffeinated beverages don't count because they make you urinate more so they are a wash.

you need to drink 8 pints a day, there are 20 fluid oz in a pint (in the UK anyway), 8 x 20 = 160, you shouldn't need to drink more than this, if you do your body is likely to retain it.
