I believe they do. Genesis first uses the word for soal (nephesh) for creatures. Then it is used for man. So why do people not think animals go to heaven?

The diversity of answers proves that so many people are not being taught the truth from the Bible. The Bible CLEARLY shows that animals are souls. Gen. 1:20, 21 says: "God went on to say: `Let the waters swarm forth a swarm of living souls... And God proceeded to create the great sea monsters and every living soul that moves about..." Lev.24:18 says: "...the fatal striker of the soul of a domestic animal should make compensation for it, soul for soul."

If people are not being taught the truth about animals having souls, what other lies are they being taught?

Animals as well as humans have souls. The soul means the person or animal themselves. Animals will go to heaven, Not through salvation. Animals souls don't need redemption. Animals never sinned. Man did, Man needs a redeemer. Jesus Christ.

Gen. 1:20, 21, 24, 25: “God went on to say: ‘Let the waters swarm forth a swarm of living souls* . . . ’ And God proceeded to create the great sea monsters and every living soul that moves about, which the waters swarmed forth according to their kinds, and every winged flying creature according to its kind. . . . And God went on to say: ‘Let the earth put forth living souls according to their kinds . . . ’ And God proceeded to make the wild beast of the earth according to its kind and the domestic animal according to its kind and every moving animal of the ground according to its kind.” (*In Hebrew the word here is ne'phesh. Ro reads “soul.” Some translations use the rendering “creature[s].”)

They sure seem to have a soul. I have a cat that stares me straight in the eye and I'd swear there's somebody in there! Spooky! My dog also seems to have a soul, too. She knows right from wrong and can sense evil in people. So, although I'm not certain what the Bible teaches on the subject, I'm saying they do have a soul. For research on the matter, I recommend a new book by Joshua P. Warren called Pet Ghosts. He looks intelligently at all the evidence. I recommend all his books.

The word nephesh has 12 different meanings, The verse you are refering to is Genesis 1:20. In this case the meaning is life not soul. God gave them life not soul. Man is the only one with soul. This is what makes us different than animals.

Yes, animals have a soul. Can they go to heaven or hell - no, they cannot. People are made up of body, soul and spirit. Animals, of body and soul, and plants are made up of body. The soul is where your feelings, thoughts, memories, and will exist. If, when your body dies, you are not a follower of Christ, then your spirit is "dead" = away from the presence of God = in hell. That's where your soul will be also. If instead, Christ is the Lord of your life, your spirit will be alive, and your soul will be in heaven. Since animals have no spirit for their soul to "live in" after the body is gone, they cannot go to either. Plants and animals just come to an end when they die.

That depends on how you define "soul". If you define "soul" simply as the "life principle" of an organism, and death as the separation of soul from body, then animals have a "soul" because they are alive. But in any case, what they do NOT have is an IMMORTAL soul. That is a characteristic of human beings alone, and is part of the reason we are created in God's image and likeness.

the concept of sould and its understanding as described by bible is wrong. they have not travelled the path of knowledge. most christians simply repeat whatever is written in bible like parrots.

soul is god. if god is everywhere, ( i do not see such a phrase in bible or quran), without him nothing is there. no wonder so much tension, strife in christian & islamic world over thier religious views.

Every being in this cosmos has a sould, that is god. he is the cosmos, he is everything that is & everything that is not. there a single jew, christian who has travelled the path of mysticism, into the unchartered dangerous jungle of inner quest like the eastern mystics. you go beyond god, truth manifests itself to you. you could lose yourself here, become one with the cosmos. when you become one with the cosmos or existence, what is the difference between the sould of human beings and that of animals. its is the same.

heaven without animals is like a junk yard. so is the case with hell, if it does not have animals there. the trees, the rock, water: everything has soul. its the soul that is manifested in many forms as humans, animals, water, air, rock, fire. everything is filled with a life of its own.

If God wants our furry friends to go to heaven then they will! There will be animals there and I can't wait too see what else I will see. I trust in his decision.
