I've never claimed to know everything, but I'm not going to deny that I AM fairly intelligent. My g/f is studying to be a massage therapist, and I'm a college biology major. She talks to me today telling me that she knows what's wrong with my legs. (I've been having a chronic muscle tightness in my legs) I went to the doctor thinking I probably had shin splints, of which the doctor agreed and just gave me motrin. Anyway, she talks to me and tells me about homeostasis and the body's natural ability to stabilize itself and and keep it out of danger, and pain receptors, and a back up alarm system in the brain to pain, ect..of which, I've already studied. I'm a BIOLOGY major for Christ's sake, plus I used to work as an occupational therapy assistant. Plus, right now I have a cold, and I don't feel well, so I told her "I already know this stuff, can you please just get to the point"? and she went OFF on me. I'm not a know it all, it's just annoying to be told things you already know

and so she thinks that under neath it all that I think I'm better than her, that I know everything ect...and that's not it...it's just I'm sick with the flu, I have a test tomorrow in microbiology, and if you're gonna take me from point A to point B, get there in a straight line, not take me through all kinds of loops to get there, especially when I already have background knowledge. How can I get her to understand this?

If you can stop a woman from doing that you deserve a nobel prize.

she wants to hear you says shes right. thats all. instead of correcting her and saying 'i know' try listening to her and doing what she suggests. she just wants you to listen even when you know better. it is amazing how well someone can respond when you say "ok i will give it a try" instead of "i know dammit!" i know sometimes people get sick and others can be annoying at the wrong time and it can be difficult to control your temper. i understand that but if you can try smiling at them when they speak or if you cant tell them your sorry but you want to be left alone for now. but whats done is done. let her calm down for now and then tell her your sorry and it was wrong and your ready to listen to her. the main thing is even though you may already know things there is always more to learn. by listening and trying you may even learn something new because everyone knows something different. hope you get better soon and good luck for your test.

sounds like she needs to feel needed in more ways than one. if she suggests something, dont fight back, she just has a diferent opinion. its your choice if you choose her advice or not and she needs to accept that.
