Jogging is a very good exercise, but can also be bad for your joints due to the bounce and shock each time your foot hits the pavement, so you'll need good footwear. If you have access to an elliptical machine or a ski machine, that might be a better alternative than jogging. Less impact on the joints and no need for fancy footwear.

to sustain life. you must have a balance energy between body and mind.
Most people as they get older people tends to do more work in mental aspect than physical aspect. life gets imbalance, physical body get sick, feeling weak but brain job is doing very well.
if you think/feel you are in imbalance state, anything that will gives you physical work not just jogging, no specific time, it depends on each individual situation.
some people find jogging fun, while others don't. Choose the kind of physical activity you find more enjoyable and comfortable. maybe sex?

Realistically, you don't really need more than 30 minutes.
Thats enough.
You could eventually graduate up to 1 hr.
But if your just doing it to keep your body healthy and aren't trying to run marathons or lose crazy amounts of weight, then 30 will do ya!
Jogging will do alot of things for you. Give you more energy, reduce stress, better sex drive, improved self appearance and confidence....
But if you have bad knee joints, you might want to look for something more low impact.

if you havel limited time, jogging is good. Because jogging is a low intensity exercise, there is good tendency for fats to burn well.
Higher intensity exercise would work other parts/system of your body..and not target well into the fats.
30 mins is good but if possible, slowly increase it to 45min..
Cheers!
