Oh this sounds lovely.
How bout doing the whole retro beach party idea complete with a clam bake?
You could use a movable dance floor and set it up too.
Use picnic tables or rent folding tables, secure the table cloths by stapling them down.
You could also use make some really cute place cards using sea shells. Paint the guests name on the shells with a gold leaf pen, glue the shells to Popsicle's sticks. Using small clay pots filled with sand , stick the Popsicle stick into the sand and set at the seats.
Oh,,,and you could use small beach balls in the center pieces too.
Hope you have a great wedding!
Good Luck

Okay, first of all, I would check a weather almanac online to see what the weather is typically like in Oregon in August. If it seems like the weather shouldn't be a problem, I'd still have a back-up plan. If you decide to go ahead with it, you should plan for the guests to be more casual and perhaps even include flip flops as a favor. You should provide chairs (don't expect them to stand on the hot sand). You should think about the wind and blowing sand. You should also check with the county because in some cases you have to have a special permit to have an event on a public beach. I've seen them cost upwards of $10,000. (Of course that's in California, LOL) Another issue with beach weddings is the lack of privacy. If you don't mind a 300 lb man in a Speedo in the background of your wedding photos....haha. I'm not trying to scare you off, but realistically, beach weddings can be more hassle than they are worth. Good luck!
