Well - I believe that we are all children of God - and God is in us - part of us. So what prayer is - is simply tapping into the God within you. Peace and understanding from prayer is from God - but it's from the God within you. I don't see God as some big huge powerful daddy in the sky. God is Love. The power of Love is what God is to me. So again - peace and understanding from is from God - and it is also from within.

And - at some point - you have to put your faith to work!

Blessings!

God IS within. Words are inadequate, but they are what we have; God is not a static, separate individual being "out there" somewhere. God is whole, perfect eternal energy (love). The essence of God is within your molecules, your cells, atoms, the air and each particle; God is All That Is. This means all that is real. Everything we "see", we project as simple images. God is peace and understanding...and perfect love.

The more you familiarize yourself with God's word, the more you will learn to recognize his voice in your life.

God speaks to us in a "still small voice." Do read about this. This will help you to better understand. (1 Kings Chapter 19)

And praise God that you are listening and asking and seeking. Because of this, you may claim the promise of Matthew 7:7-11 in your life which states,

"Ask, and it will be given you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be opened for you.

8 For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened.

9 Or who is there among you, who, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone?

10 Or if he asks for a fish, who will give him a serpent?

11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!

it's a completely different type of peace than what you could do from within yourself. If you have never felt it I feel bad for you as it is an amazing feeling.
God bless
