Shots are given from 6 weeks old for about a month.

You should get your cat desexed at around 4-6 months.

I would not de-claw him if I were you. It is a very painful procedure and can affect his personality. Keeping your cat's nails short will help prevent him from digging his claws in everything.

I actually got my kitten from my local Humane Society and they neutered him at 6 weeks. He was then declawed at 3.5 months because he was clawing up everything... including me. Check with your vet on ages. Then get a second opinion and maybe a third so you can get a feel for a doctor that feels right. The younger the kitten is, the faster he'll heal from the surgery. Keep in mind that this will cost around $150-$200 and he may have to stay the night depending on your vet's preferances.

I also tried the soft paws, which are caps that are glued on over their nails. But those were a complete waste of money for my cat. He would constantly bite them off. thought I was putting them on wrong. So the vet tried too but they were off by the time we left the office. But it's worth a try if you don't mind keeping up with it.

Good Luck!!! Hope everything works out!

This is a question that should really be addressed to your vet because all vets have different requirements on the ages for different surgeries.

Where I work the kitten needs to be 3 months old for a declaw and 4-6 months old for neutering.

The feline distemper shot can be done at this time with a booster in 3 weeks. The rabies shot will need to wait until 4 months of age. The feline leukemia vaccine is optional on indoor kittens but recommended on outdoor cats.

You should have already started him on getting his shots. It takes a series of shots, not just once. As for the clawing, mine stopped after a few good shots with the high powered water bottle. My furniture is now safe, and nobody got hurt. Plus, every time I pick up the spray bottle, they know they're doing something that will have an undesired consequence, and usually they stop before they are wet. It might be a little soon to be neutered, but your vet will give you the answers you need when you take him in for his shots. ASAP on the shots, please. It could save you some heartache and the kitty his life.

At least 6 months for neutering. Don't declaw, it's cruel. Teach him not to scratch, by taking him off when he scratches and putting him on his scratching post, and by trimming his nails at the end - careful, not too deep, there are veins. The shots can be done now.

Cats are suppose to start getting their shots at about 6-8 weeks old. They can get declawed and fixed after four sets of shots. That's usually around 4 months old. My kitten is 4 months old and just had both done Friday so if you want to get it done soon get started now.

I would actually wait till about almost 6 months old. We got our kitten nuetered when he was 6weeks, because that was how old the facility was excepting them, and he eneded up getting kidney stones. And died. The vet said it was because he was so young when we got him fixed

Read this about declawing and you'll definitely want to try Softwpaws first!
