I just found out this afternoon that one of my good friends was killed in a car accident last night. The funeral will be sometime this week in Florida, and I'm looking for cheap airfare to get down there. (I'm in Tennessee.)

I know the airlines have bereavement rates for family members. Is there any airline that has discounted rates even if you are not family?

Does anyone have any advice on finding a cheap rate? I've checked most of the travel websites with no luck. =(

Any help is greatly appreciated. Even if someone felt compelled to donate some frequent flier miles???

I am so sorry to hear about your friend. Try going to www.airtran.com. They have the cheapest tickets every time I fly from Florida to Illinois and back. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Airlines used to give bereavement rates for family members - but most do not as this time - and they never gave special rates"for fiends." That said, your best bet will be to check airlines - Southwest or JetBlue - Not sure of JetBlue's routes - Sorry for your loss but last minute reservations usually cost more. It might help if you spoke to the airline of your choice via phone - sometimes this helps. Also call during daytime work hours - have found that night time employees are not as accommodating as daytime employees. Good Luck :)

Airline bereavemnt rates mean that you pay full price and are refunded a portion after producing the death certificate for the deceased.
I know this from personal experience.
Good luck.

I found a site called cheapoair.com that had a nashville to tampa priced at 329.50. Not sure how much cheaper you can get at such a short notice. I usually go to bookingbuddy.com when I look for flights. Hope this helps.

do no longer spend money to pass to a pals funeral--he died, permit him come to you. He won't know once you're there besides. merely askk somebody to sign your call interior the centred visitor e book and later, whilst he's finding out the e book to make certain who grew to become into there he will merely think of, Oh, i did no longer see him right here.....i might desire to have ignored him.

Sorry to hear this.

Try www.sidestep.com and you can also try www.expedia.com cause sometimes they have the odd deal or two.

Found one for $347 on sidestep but I did a search from BNA (Nashville) to Miami.
