We already know when we die we are going to heaven or hell...right !!!! My question is, if God knows our outcome of a serious accident and knows we would die if we had not been hooked to life support-----does he decide to take our soul at the moment of impact when our brain dies (since he knows we will not recover) or does he wait until family chooses to disconnect the support?

I would speculate that God doesn't take our soul until we actually die because He allows people to pray for their relatives to recover and so even though He knows the future, He doesn't take away our option of seeking his intervention for healing.

I was in a situation like that about 24 years ago, and I survived the accident and two back-to-back head surgeries which the surgeons themselves told me that most people "had a 5% chance of living and being anything other than a vegetable". Then, when I went to get some neuro-psychological testing, the man who was administering the test said, and I quote, " I am starting at the top 10% of the questions on this test and I'm going up. You either never had the head injury you say you had (which I DEFINITELY did have), or your recovery is miraculous". Well, no one doubts I had the head injury, and no one doubts the recovery, but the fact that I lived at all, much less recovered to the level I did, was amazing to everyone. So, when did God make the choice He did? I ain't got a clue! Why He made that choice? That's even more puzzling since I haven't been the greatest of His creations by a long shot. But He did chose to let me live and recover "miraculously" according to anyone who knew me at the time. I can tell you that I am eternally thankful to Him for His choice, since, following that time I had two WONDERFUL children, even though my life still wasn't the prettiest thing one could want. But my kids sure are great, according to me anyway, and that's all counts. I guess God just doesn't feel it's our place to know all the reasons why He does what He does when He does or doesn't do it. We just need to be thankful for His choices. If He had let me die, I would've been okay with that since I felt no pain from the injury. I think He gave me time to come to my spiritual senses though, and realize He was more powerful than me, and I needed that ego correction. God Bless you.

Wow, kudos to you, that is a tough question. While God is all knowing, there is also free will, which can totally change things. For example, if you were in that position and had a close Christian friend/relative who had the gift of healing and they came and prayed over you and through the grace of God you were healed you would have to have still had your soul. And, it says in the bible that if you are obedient to him and you call on His name for ANYTHING He will answer. So, considering these things I would have to say that He probably does not take your soul at the moment of impact. But, the world may never truly know.

As soon as the heart dies and there is no ability to resucitate, the soul moves on. Though, there are many cases where a person miraculously came back to life after being dead for hours. Just read the Bible; remember the girl who died and Jesus brought her back to life? He said she was sleeping. I don't think people are dead on life support. I firmly believe they are still alive until disconnected from every chance and miracle from God.

That is a very tough question indeed. Pardon the cliche but God works in mysterious ways. I guess that since there is no scientific way to prove this, you should rely on your faith. I guess i'd like to believe that the soul remains with your body until your last breath (medically assisted or otherwise) but i could be wrong. I think this could be one of those questions where you have to either ask your local church leader, or come up with a conclusion yourself.

That is a good question that no one knows, from case to case except God, but I would think at the end of the life - which is when your body ceases to function or dies. It is at the time of death.
God can still be working in a body or in the lives of those with someone who is still alive, and often very powerful things happen at that time.
God may minister to that person or may take them, according to his wisdom

im no theology major or anything, but God doesnt cause wrecks and accidents to happen, when the Bible says that He knows where we are going, even though God is omnipitant, I think that it means that God knows where we are going to end up (heaven or hell) but how we get there (trial, hardships, backsliding, ect.) is up to us. But this is an awesome question, if you have a friend or someone in traction, i would recommend praying for God to give them another chance if they were not a Christian, and if they were I would still keep praying for God to give them another chance; but if the worst happens, rejoice in the fact that you know where they are and that one day you will be reunited.

There have been people who have been hooked to life support for years, been declared brain dead, and recovered.

Two years ago I read in the paper about a two year old in a neighboring town who drowned. She was underwater for two hours. Her body was taken to the city morgue and left there...until nurses heard her crying. There really is no explanation for it.

I'd have to say that is one of those situations that would have to be taken on a case by case basis.

Not sure.

I read an interesting book called "90 minutes in Heaven"
can't recall the author, but it was a fascinating account...

But like one of the other answerer stated, It is good to be ready now, ya never know what tomorrow will bring!

Deaf is absence of life. Jesus referred to death as a sleep. When Lazarus died, He told His disciples that Lazarus fall asleep. He didn’t say Lazarus in heaven. See John 11:11-14. Over 50 times Bible compares deaf as a sleep. Christians go to heaven after resurrection from the death at last day. See I Thess.4:15,16. Martha, one of Jesus followers, understood it correctly. See John 11:24.
