Are you asking a question or making a speech?
You are generalizing, and that is always a dangerous thing to do. There are many people who are active in real-world, civilized life threatening issues. As for the diseases you named, there is a good deal of research going on at present -- and a good deal of progress has been made. Some types of cancers are now curable. There have been vast steps forward in the treatment of HIV-AIDS. Volunteerism, to help these and other causes, as well as to support community projects, is at a record high. So it's hard to tell what is the basis for your rant.
One thing that is certain, however, is that someone who complains about and 'abundance of ignorance' in today's world should try using his spell checker before sending out a missive such as this, as it loses a great deal of its impact when the reader stumbles across the mis-spelled words and the typographical errors that stud this statement.

I think a big part of the problem (for some people at least) is that they do not know where to go to make a difference. Our society is one where we have come to need to see a result- we need to see something changed or someone helped or too many people do not feel as though anything they do will matter. Absolutely people find things to distract themselves with though! If we didn't, we would have mass suicide problems because dealing with all the problems of the world all the time would simply become too much to handle and cause severe depression. At the same time however, people do "do something." When was the last time you went somewhere during the month of October and didn't see 15 pink things for sale to support breast cancer awareness? I'm well aware that it should be year round and not just one month, however something is better than nothing. And to end, why are you on your computer asking this question and not doing something? Whats stopping YOU?

So what you are saying is that everyone should live for everyone else and never enjoy life or family? What would be the point then? You kids all live in a dream world. Try living in a world where you have to pay your own bills, feed your family by earning, shopping, cooking and cleaning up after, washing your own clothes, taking care of your own lawn and raising your children to feel secure and loved and to be self sufficient then you can talk about why we don't do more. When you have to do more than get your fanny out of bed in the morning, shower, decide what to wear, go to school, do your homework, eat food that is set in front of you already prepared and beg money from the parents then ask the question again.

For the most part it is depression and fear that has been progressively coming upon us for the last 25 years. It has increased in the last 8 years like triple time fast with the 9/11 and the lack of faith in their fellow man. Paranoia towards many things and then a hopelessness fell and now people just dont care. They need a spiritual healing and hope to live happily. That is why the vast increase in anti-depressants and pills for erections like Viagra and Enzyte. So you as a man are suppose to have sex to cheer you up? Unfortunately the government is responsible as a whole, but we as individuals are responsible for our reactions and need to fight the depression and start being happy even if it is about the birds flying over our neighbors car and making doo doo.

I am completely with you, buddy. I want to be president sometimes because I am so worried for America and for our world. I think the reason for all of what you said is because there is a lack of unity with people today. I live in America and can only speak for how it is to live in America, I don't know how it is to live in any other country. Sometimes I want to move to another country because I am so disgusted with American culture. I do not call myself American. As I have experienced, people are distant to one another in today's time. It seems we have fallen victim to the lies that our government tells us. It is almost like we let the government control us. If you think about it, you know how much we would make a difference if everyone got together and agreed to fight for a cause we believe in? I can tell you that we would make a difference, a huge difference. We just have to connect more as human beings, with everyone we come in contact with, everyone of all races. We have to start being real with one another. To see what is happening in this country nowadays, all you have to do is call a business and you'll get a good dose of "robot talk." All you have to do is buy a magazine and it is like the pages themselves are telling you "you are fat, you are ugly, you are not good enough." I am dead serious. It's crazy because many peolple are numb to these types of things, and they think that it is a good thing to become numb to such outrageous stuff, when really they have a right to be sensitive and have a brain. American culture, with it's propoganda, it's obsessions with money and celebrities and appearance and weight and cars and superficial meaningless crap like that, is brainwashing it's people to be more and more greedy and selfish. And the saddest part about all of this is that most people are fed this garbage and take it all in like robots. Some people, it seems like, cannot even seperate what is good from what is bad anymore. This country cares more about money than it does about it's people. That is what I think. Keep being objective though, that is the first step in making a difference.

YOu are right...I guess we should ask our politicians that questions..what are they doing in washington...I would say the best thing now is to just work hard and raise great individuals so that our future can be enriched and improved with great citizens like our children? it might be too late for some things but at least we have to start somewhere....
What can we do? the govt is corrupt and we have a stupid president. The american people really need to think about who they vote for! it's not about being a republican or a democrat..although a democrat is less corrupt than the repbulican...:)
well ... I think i am doing what I can.

A lot of the apathy has to do with where 'the world' is going now, and lack of hope.
And many of the rest of us are busy dealing with those other issues like poverty, disease, etc. on personal levels, or helping others in such situations, and keeping our families fed and surviving in hard times.
What do you suggest we do?

Well consider approximately this. It use to be a criminal offense to have a interracial couple, and folks could discriminate you for it.. After a protracted at the same time folks began to get use to it, and comprehend that it doesn't matter what they do they are able to quit it. So, they legalized it. I consider homosexual folks are the identical topic. When I first got here out folks discriminated me, however then they received ok with it.. This is how America works. They dont like new matters, they wish a method and a method most effective.

Many try not to do something if we do not have to and hope that someone else will do them for us. We just don't want to be the one out there doing the actual stuff, and since these things have no immedidate consequences, we would try to delay addressing them as much as possible. We may also pretend that these issues don't even exist. As for term paper, usually I tend to do them on the last minute, simply I just don't want to look at it. What is keeping me? Probably just lazyness and lack of interest.

well there are many factors to this. i hate to say this but its the truth, WE ARE SEPERATE, especially by religion. that is one factor that causes some ignorance/hate in this world (one example, is gays, catholics especially believe they will end up in hell because they are messed up or something. In reality it doesnt make sense to me, whp cares who has sex with who, why hate two people who put so much love in their hearts) We have too many different beliefs in this world with all the religions and science debating. How can this be fixed, well i guess it cant, it seems this world needs religion for some self control. Secont is politics, LIBERAL and CONSERVATIVES, they are both the biggest parties which split this world in two, but what can we do, we can really function well without them. Also just the ME FIRST attitude most people have. taxes first, wars first, money first, whatever benefits me first. not really anyways around this either. I dont know, i agree with you, but its one hard changeover. It may crash our society leaving society to repair itself with the better way of life and thinking.
