Hurt is not the word. More like moderate discomfort. It should be a little sore for a few days afer, but nothing in terms of extreme pain. If it is extremely painful or inflamed, go back and have it rechecked for infection.
Good luck.

So the local anethetic stings when needle goes in and when it is infusing into the site for a short time, imagine a kind of pinching burning feeling for a short time. Then you will wait a short while, then the actual procedure you may only feel a minor amount of pressure, you shouldn't feel pain, let the dr know if you are.

Luckily there are less nerve receptors on your back, they are more spread out then say your groin or tummy, so comparatively your back procedure is lower on the pain scale. You may need to take some simple analgesia on the first day or two, paracetamol or neurofen, um advil or similar to keep you pain free. Can take this every 6hrs.

Dont do any heavy work, like extreme weights or move furniture, or swimming until you have your stiches out, which is usually around 7-10 days, but you will more than likely not feel too much discomfort by about day 3.

Try to apply a clean dressing every day, wash over the wound during the shower, wash your hands with soap and dry on a clean towel after you shower, then adhere the dressing - don't touch the inside of the dressing with your fingers.
Or you could apply a waterproof dressing and have a friend assist changing it every 2-3 days if the wound is in a difficult to reach place. You should be able to buy dressings at your local pharmacy. Your dr may even be kind enough to supply you with some. Depending on what the cause of your cyst is the doctor may prescibed some antibiotics to keep it clean, or clear up any little germs in there.

All the best

The truth of the matter is that the longer you wait to get it removed, the more it will hurt. You need to get to the doctor as soon as you can and get it taken care of before it gets worse. When you go to get it removed, the doctor can give you something to take away the pain.

The most painful part if you want to call it that will be when they inject your back and put in the xylocaine.
Healing will be uncomfortable and sore for a day or two but all in all it is a breeze.

You don't have much feeling in your back. It probably won't even itch. You will feel some tugging when they do the cutting and stitching. The antisthetic needle they use noy days is so small you may not feel it.
