A nuclear med tech is a tech that injects nuclear isotopes and then scans them with xray machinery. Salaries vary from city, but the average is probably about $50,000 to start in a hospital.

I am in school to become a Nuclear Medicine Tech. right now. They inject patients with radioactive material in order to visualize the function of the heart, bone, stomach, thyroid, among many other organs. Cardiology is roughly 40 % of nuclear medicine, if you go on google and type in "stress test cardiology" you could get some idea of that job. There are many facets in this career to keep you interested. The salary here in CT is about the same as an RN so I would guess that would be the amount where you are too. The radiation exposure is kept very low, even though there are always risks depending upon experience. They walk you through all the processes before throwing you into the hospital setting to do it yourself. I am not sure about what they do in Puerto Rico as far as training or certification goes. But I really enjoy it here in CT!
