Light wood and beige are both neutrals, so you could toss any color you wanted into the room, but I would advise (like some of the others here) that you do not paint the walls all a very dark color unless you like feeling like you're in a dungeon.
I personally like a garnet color, but that's me.
There's a possibility, that you could use a slightly darker than beige color for most of the walls, and then the wall that you want to focus on more, such as the one with the window, paint it your darker color. I did something similer in my old bedroom. Grey walls except for one dark peacock teal colored wall. It was striking. Then you can accent with dark purple bed coverings, or if you decide to paint a different wall than the one with the window, match the curtains with the paint. Also, a small dark purple throw rug on the carpet can add some color to the room.

My entire upstairs has beige or taupe color carpeting and I took a sample to Home Depot paint department and they did an exact match in their Behr paint brand. My husband put crown molding around the ceiling and the ceiling was painted 75% lighter than the walls. One of the other bedrooms was painted in a soft yellow with white trim. The nice thing about beige is that just about any color you choose would work. If you really would like to see what the room would look like they have paint Cd's that you can purchase from Home Depot or Lowes for around $5. Take a picture of your room and download it into the program and you can play around with the different paint colors and see what your room would really look like. Good luck!

I vote for dark purple...purple is my favorite color too!! You don't want the walls a real light color with the carpet and wood being light. Everything will look washed out. Dark purple is a classy & sexy color.

I would make your comforter a print with a beige or cream background but has the dark purple and other colors in it to keep the room bright. I wouldn't use must else purple in the room other than in the comforter. Don't overload with purples, it won't look classy. Keep your curtains plain and neutral (whatever the color the background of your comforter is)

Purple is an "in" color right now and there are tons of comforter sets that have purple, taupe and sage in them.

www.Domestications.com has some really cute ones rather cheap too!

Get a photo of your room, wood, and carpet. Bring it to Sherwin Williams Paint Company. Ask the guys there to color match what you got. If you need a contrasting color, they have samples of the paints, both in paper and in wood. I always like tone-on-tone. My carpet is beige, therefore, my walls are also beige with a little bit of yellowish tinge.

I think you could do dark purple if that is what you really want. But I was going to suggest a cappaccino-like colour that Ralph Lauren paint comes in. I used it in my living room and it is just beautiful and very homey and warm - cozy. I love it and I have red couches with purple and gold flecks in the fabric. It looks great. ALso light tan carpet. Ralph Lauren has some very nice colours at Home Depot and you can have the color mixed in Behr paint if you don't want to pay a ton of money for paint but want the great colour.

Luckily any color can go with earth tones which is what wood and beige are =P So go with purple if you like purple it's your room! But if you do decide on purple make sure you have enough light in the room to brighten it up because that will darken it a lot...

dark purple will make the room seem very small, and it will have a strange cast to it, with lamps or lights on. i think anything in the blues or purples would work, but pick a lighter shade. Also depends on if your carpet is a yellowy beige or pinkish beige. This makes a bug difference.

I think you should stick to lighter colors if the wood and carpet are both light. Also dark colors tend to make a room look much smaller than it actually is.

If you have a Lowes near you, buy this little computer software disk they have. Its like 6 bucks and its SOOO cool. You take a picture of your area and upload it to the disk. Then you can try ALL the colors on the walls, trim etc. and decide before you buy!! Its call "Virtual Painter", put out by AMerican Traidion SIgnature Colors. This has helped me pick out paint alot!

Great...if you use a dark purple paint only one wall that color or your room will be a dark dungeon. You can paint the other 3 walls a very light purple. Or paint all walls light purple and use dark purple accents like pillows, drapes and spreads. have fun with it!
