It sounds about right, to me. You aren't noticing any thinning in the scalp itself, are you? If you keep your hair in a ponytail and don't brush it before you shower, it'll all go down then. But if it's loose, you'll tend to shed everywhere, and maybe not notice so much in the shower.
(-: I'll tell you what's scary though -- a few months after giving birth, I started losing gobs and gobs of hair every day! Apparently, you don't lose as much hair when you are pregnant, but then after giving birth, it all comes out at once -- nine months worth! My hair looked fine, still, but the shower was pretty creepy (-:.

All from one part of the scalp? I wouldn't say so. But if you're losing hair from all over and it's bunching up in the bottom of the tub, that's probably not a big deal. Most people lose hundreds of hairs a day, but not all from one place on the scalp.

No! If you are only losing a little more than usual when you wash your hair, it could mean you're due for a trim or your scalp is in bad condition. For excessive hair loss, like this, something could be wrong. Ask your doctor about it--they'll know more than I do.

You do not mention how long your hair is to start with.
A quarter size bundle of LONG hair really isn't that much hair!!
People lose 100's of hairs per day and don't even know it.
It's the natural regrowth you'll need to worry about!!

Once in a while, perhaps, if a lot of dead hair has accumulated. However, if you are losing large chunks of hair on a regular basis, I would be checked for lupus, or perhaps consult my doctor about the onset of alopecia.
