My cousin is in prison and I want to write him a letter. We have never been that close my life is really boring and I have never been good at writing letters.I thought about sending him some inspirational quotes or something. Does anyone have some ideas of things I could say or do?

Well, believe it or not, they made Chicken Soup for the Prisoner's Soul (which is a book from the Chicken Soup series, for Prisoners, as the name suggests), it's inspirational. You could get some quotes from the book or send him the book itself. As for writing a letter: his life is probably pretty boring in prison and he'll probably devour the letter. Tell him what you've been up to, what movies you saw and what you liked about them, any fun things you did, trips you took, silly little things. It doesn't need to be huge and impressive. Why not try sending him some CDs (if he has a player) or cookies with the letter in a gift basket? Well, good luck.

Just write. But think before you print it out- in other words, always write from the heart, no matter who you write to.

include clippings
(he'll put them up and feel connected to family w/out having to drag out your letter)

you're doing a fine thing
