Every cultures have different meaning of hugging...
Hug for love, hug when meeting old acquintance.. hug for comfort, hug for warm :) and hug for the feeling of missing a special person, hug to strangle and kill (wrestling kind of thing)..

its just another way or gretting people like . people you dont know well you shake hands.
people you kinda know or are friends with you hug.
people who arer in relationships with eachother kiss.
