If I want to lose weight, but feel extremely thirsty after work out, won't drinking water weaken the effect of exercise?

Not at all, drinking water has no effect on calorie burning. In fact, if you don't drink, you are likely to lose LESS weight because your body will think it is being starved, and will be likely to shut down your metabolism.

If you are extremely thirsty after a workout, that suggests that you weren't drinking enough during the workout itself. Being dehydrated during your workout, will reduce its effectiveness too - so be sure to have a water bottle handy, or have a BIG drink before you start.

You may be confusing weight loss with water loss. When jockeys diet to lose weight for a horse race, they often don't drink, and go to saunas. But that's because they need to lose weight temporarily, just for the race. As soon as they take a glass of water, the extra few pounds go straight back on again.

So if you are trying to lose weight for the long haul, there is no point in doing it by restricting your intake of water.

For me, it's a MUST!!
You should drink before, during and after exercises.
Do you know why? Its because, after getting exercises, you will feel hungry, if you eat, you tend to eat in a big amount! To avoid this, you need to drink water! It will replace your hunger!

And did you know that water helps you loss weight. Plain water is a very important element in metabolism process. It burns calories in the body by changing food to energy. If you don’t take enough water, then your body can’t burn fat easier.

Try read here, it's a good info on what water influence in your diet.
