i only got contact lenses about three days ago, and still have to get used to the getting it out part. i can put it in just fine. in fact, i think i do it pretty well, but the gettig out? i'm hopeless. i'm terrified at the though of pinching the contacts out of my eyes.
does anyone have any tips/tricks/hints (long-time contact users) that they have inherited through their contact life?
please help me!

i had a really hard time adjusting when i first got my contacts, and everyone kept telling me to pinch it out...i couldn't help thinking-you're crazy, you want me to pinch this tiny piece of plastic out of my EYE? are you nuts? the easiest way for me to get them out is by looking forward and then placing my finger on the contact and dragging it to the corner of my eye, once it gets there, if you slide fast enough, the impact of the lens on the corner of the eye usually just pops it out, hopefully that makes sense, but it's the only way i can get those suckers out and i've been wearing them for the past six years, hope this helps!

When you're taking them out, keep your face looking strait, but move your eyes looking up or to the side and use your free hand to hold your eye lid open. That way you don't SEE your fingers heading into your eye, so you won't EXPECT it, and it will be painless. It really takes some getting used to. I work in an optometrist office so I see it every day. Plus I've worn contacts for over 10 years. Oh and helps if you don't think about what you're doing. Have your favorite music on for back ground noise. Let me know if you need any more advice on this. I have a lot of experience!

first WASH YOUR HANDS...then put some re wetting drops in each eye...dry eyes tend to make your lens stick to your eye, then with one hand hold your eye open, then gently press your finger on the contact and push it down from the center of your eye, this should loosen the seal...DON"T BLINK!...then gently pinch the contact, it should fold up and release from your eye. Make sure that you clean your holding case with soap and hot water after your put your contacts in, and air dry during the day, fill a little over halfway with clean solution for overnight storage. I would also suggest that if you have tried unsuccessfully a few times to remove your contact, walk away for 5 Min's and try again, i bet you will get it right away, and don't give up! You will get the *touch* in no time at all.

I wore contacts for 35 years. I used to look up and put my clean middle finger on the edge of the contact and slide it down my eye while pulling down my lower lid with with my index finger. The I would pinch the contact together with my thumb and index finger. This way I wouldn't have to worry about pinching my eye.

if you're afraid of touching your eye, you can try rubbing your eyelid & moving your eye while it's closed to move the contact to the outer edge of your eye. another thing that might help is instead of going right point blank at the eye, look as far to the left/right (outside) as possible and try to get the contact out with your finger with the movement of your eye.

it's only been three days though, you'll get use to it! it takes a while.

heres a way i learned before i got used to taking my contacts out. I take my finger and poke the contact which is on my eye, then i close my eye about 1/2 way down then i move my finger, the contact will bend out, then i just use my thumb to grab it out.

good luck

well, I started using contacts in like the eigth grade... and I just had to get used to it. It's horrible at first but believe me, with a little bit of practice things will get much much better! One thing I can suggest is putting drops of solution in your eye to moisten your eye a lot so when you have to take them out they come off much easier... sometimes they get kind of like stuck to your eye and you have to peel them off... it hurts a lil. Lol. You'll get used to it though :oD

I have showered with mine in before (14 day disposable) but I don't do it all of the time. I didn't notice anything different the next time I put them in.
