I had to uninstall it because my OS goes into a loop every time it boots. I don't know if there's a conflict with other devices. How do I find out?

I have reinstalled using the original CD that came with the drive. I have installed drivers downloaded from the Internet. Nothing works. Should I look inside the casing. What should I expect to find?

you need to install the drivers. either use the orginal cd that came with your cound card, or go to the manufacturer's websit eto download. if all else failes google your sound card type followed by the words driver download windows 98. it shoudl be out there somewhere

the sound card name and fancy box don't really mean crap. your best bet, open up your computer, the sound card, (the one that gets plugged into with your speaker) has a chipset on it. chipset = little black chip that tells you information regarding your peticular soundcard. there are god knows how many soundblaster live's out there. you need to find out chip specifics. on the chip, should say soundblaster live, or something close to it. under that heading there should be some numbers like, example es1879, etc etc. thats your chipset number. thats the number you want to reference your driver to and download one for it. that is my best advice for ya. good hunting

Your sound card isn't obsolete, Windows 98 is. Creative Soundblaster Live! are made for Windows ME, and higher.

go to the bios in the start up enable the card and disable the onboard audio
