Due to my recent problem with win ME/originally 98SE I decided to delete everything and also I format both HD (c, d)

I would like to learn how can I install XP pro now? Drive E doesn’t load up the installation dialog from XP Pro. Only the Compaq screen comes up.

Also it give me this error msg.

Invalid system disk
Replace the disk, and then press any key.

Floppy disk is not in if you wondering.

A, C, D, E, and F drives 500mhz celeron 320 MB 13G

I do have boot disks from 98se, ME and XP home and pro

If not possible to install Pro or even 98SE

Thank you for all your comments. You may email me if needed. Same ID is the email.

Try going into system setup when your pc starts. You do this by looking carefully @ screen while system is starting. You will see an option to "enter set-up @ the top of scren the says press f2 or f10 or something like that depending on manufactuer of computer. Prress what ever is stated then wait for system bios to come-up. When it does use up and down arrows to go to BOOT ORDER. Enter Boot order by click enter once you have used up and down arrows. Make sure that in BOOT ORDERyou cd rom is select as first in boot-order, then floppy disk if you have one then hard-drives. Arrange these hardwares in the above order then try installing the new operating system.
When you insert the disk your cd-rom should start automatically the new operation system dialogue. This will take quie a while to complete installing, so be patient and follow the prompts once installation has begun

look around on the internet for a windows 98 boot disk that allows you to use your cd drives. i found such a disk on the net and it has been invaluable. just download it, put it on a floppy, restart, and either click an option that says boot from cd or choose the dos prompt. at the promt play around to see which drive is the cd drive with the windows disk. switch to that drive, type setup.exe and there ya go. oh unless you are trying to install windows xp from an upgrade cd instead of the full install cd. then i'm not sure you can do a clean install from the upgrade disks

Set the boot priority in your BIOS to CD-ROM first, floppy second, then HD. Boot from XP installation CD and follow the instructions. I personally would not install XP on that machine. You should have at least a 1ghz and 512MB of RAM on a machine or it is going to run dog slow... If you load XP on it, I would only load exactly what programs you will need and nothing extra. That machine just isn't going to handle XP to your satisfaction.

You need to change the boot sequence to your cd room as your first choice. That way, it's going to run your windows XP CD after you re-start.

How:
When you re-start, (depending on your computer type) press Delete key or F3 or F10. It should bring you to the BIOS screen (normally green or blue).

Try find the BOOT SYSTEM SEQUENCE. Change it to your CD room as the first choice (Again the way to change it depending on your computer, some use the ARROW key, some use the ENTER key).

Before exit from the BIOS, choose save the modification. The computer should pick up the CD and run the windows setup. Good Luck
