I have an 'all-nighter' perhaps once a week. That's where I stay up for about 32 hours and then sleep for perhaps 14 hours afterwards. I always catch up with the right amount of sleep, I feel fine afterwards and during, and I don't suffer with the concentration and obvious health detriments most people staying up do.
So I'm wondering.. is it actually dangerous at all? That is, is pulling these extremely extended days regularly going to make it likely I'll die of exhaustion in another ten years..? Does it damage the chemical make-up of my brain? Or what?

Thanks for all the answers so far. Just to address most of them.. no, it's not related to study, etc. It's just because I decide I can't be bothered going to sleep and that I'm too involved with whatever I'm up to. I just get on well with being up a long time. What I'm wondering though is if it causes permanent damage in any way.

Oh, and if it helps, I find it really easy to stay up. What I find hard is sleeping any less than 8-12 hours at time :) I sleep really well though. I just stay up really well too :-D
