I want to have my 7 year old nephew read a small passage at our wedding. Hes a pretty good reader, but I want to make it short and sweet. Everything I have found online wont work, anyone have any ideas? I will probably end up writing it myself, but Just wondering if anyone has done this and has ideas

I think you should write it yourself. And I do not think having him read something is a bad idea. I think it is great. I think a short poem about weddings would be good. Perhaps some lyrics from a fav. song. Hope this is helpful.

I think it is a great idea, especially if you are really close to your nephew. I think, though, that you are really going to have a hard time finding something appropriate that won't won't sound too old or complicated coming from a child's mouth.

Another idea I had was maybe you could have him recite song lyrics since songs are just poems put to music anyway. You wouldn't have to use the whole song. At least it might be a little easier finding something appropriate.

The first song that came to mind was "The Rose". Here's a site with the lyrics. http://www.geocities.com/Yosemite/7115/roselyrics.html

Good luck on your upcoming wedding & marriage!

How nice of you to want to include this lad in your special day!
I think I agree with the toon who said to save his speech for the reception. The pressure of preforming at the wedding may be a bit more than his nerves can take.
How bout---(if your religious)
"Thank you God up above
for sending my Auntie
someone to love.
Thank you for making
his heart so true
that now I've got
a new Uncle too."
Grinz and Good Luck

A seven year old make a wedding speech? My opinion is that he probably shouldn't participate that way in the ceremony. I'd save his reading for the reception.
