Dogs will chew, especially puppies. You have to give them something to chew on (dog toys, stuffed animals etc.) and let them know what they can and can't chew on.

There is some kind of spray you can use on furniture, carpet, etc. That if the dog tastes it, it will taste sour and make the dog stop chewing in that area. It is safe as far as the dogs health. I had to use it 5 years ago and it works. To save my life I can't remember the name of it but if you go to a pet store they would know what your talking about.

The best way to train a dog to be house friendly is to buy a cage to keep the dog in when you are not home. A cage that's approximately 2 ft x 3 ft gives the dog plenty of room to move around and lie down, and prevents him from getting into trouble.
We've used this method to train several house dogs we have raised. It worked for all ........from a mutt, a German Shepherd, an Australian Shepherd, to a Husky. The cage became their house, and they felt safe staying in it and it protected my house!

Try picking up a product called Bitter Apple at a pet store near you. It is non-toxic, non-staining and taste terrible! Use it on what ever the dog is chewing on the most and they will learn quickly.... Best of luck!

get some bitter apple spray (available with training aids at pet stores) and spray the items that you don't want her to chew. be careful not to inhale the spray, the taste it leaves in your mouth will make you understand why it works on dogs. also, make sure she has plenty of stuff that she is allowed and encouraged to chew.

We got to the point where we had to put a tad bit of hot sauce on our finger and run it on the rails of our dining room chairs. It didn't seem to matter if he had his own stuff or not, he wanted to chew on those wooden chairs. Only took a couple licks and sneezes for him to figure out that they didn't taste too good any longer. If he/she seems to have a taste for wood or something that won't mind a tad bit of hot sauce it's worth a try! Then you can wash it off with warm water and a wash cloth when your done with the lesson.

Tell her no everytime she does it. Then again as they get older they stop it, just like nothing. I have 2 dogs and my little still does it but my 3 1/2 did it for about 9 months and stop. So I am hoping that my girl will stop soon, since Iam running out of shoes.
