False gospel? the authority of the gospel was given to the Catholic church through Christ/ the Holy Spirit. Protestants (assuming you are one) have changed the gospel message according to their own interpretations with no authority.

IM NOT SAYING TO WORSHIP THE POPE YOU CRAZY FUNDAMENTALIST! I am asking this question out of my love for God's people and the joy their work brings to me. You need to stop and think before you attack every Catholic teaching based on you narrow beliefs, which lack authority. Take a more human look at the world and see its beauty, not your hate.

Response to your question, those 300 years you speak of are precisely the time when tradition became important in the church. The experience and inspiration of the early catholic leaders in this time is what led to the bible in its present state, all under the direction of the Holy Spirit. For Christ said he would always be with His church. The Bible is essentially the record of God's inspiration to His holy church.

i read your additional details and i was just wondering where in the Bible does it say that the authority of the gospel was given to the Catholic Church. since there was no such thing for nearly 300 yrs. i can prove to you through the writings of the catholic church, by their own words, how they are the ones who claim to change the gospel message as well as God's Holy Sabbath(saturday) to sunday.

Do you mean great, as in notorious?
That would be Pope Urban II. He started the Crusades by promising the poor and uneducated people a place in heaven if they went to fight for him. Thousands upon thousands were killed across Europe and the Mid-east....Jews, Christians, and Muslims. He began the greatest slaughters ever. And, he will not be forgotten for it.

A pope is just a person, we are to worship God.
You need to read the Bible.
See how many times the pope is mentioned ZERO.
See how many times God is mentioned Many times.

I like Saint Peter. He was always messing things up, saying the wrong things, even denying Jesus three times, but Jesus did not give up on him.
If God can use some like Peter for something like being the first Pope then I know God can use people like us.
With love in Christ.
