Three years or thirty years,... We are in it now and better stay in it to the end. It's far better to fight them over there than fight them here in our streets.

Not much optimism in the answers so far, eh?

I believe it is entirely up to the Iraqi people at this point. We have given them an opportunity to form a government that answers to the people instead of the other way around - if they are willing to stand up and fight for their rights and freedoms, our mission will truly be complete. As we have painfully learned in the past, we can give them all of the military and humanitarian aid we can muster - but it's ultimately going to depend on them.
Let's hope they don't squander the opportunity.

I believe three more years is more than enough time for the people to decide if they want terrorists back in control, or if they want a little independence.

Technically, it may never end as the war on terror may not. But, I personally believe Iraq troops will be home in 3 years. Barring any large change of power in the theater.

The war in the middle east will never end .
The only way US troops will be able to pull out of Iraq is if the Iraqi people take a stand and quell this sectarian violence that's plaguing them at the moment.
Do i think we will be out in 3 years..Yes

Hopefully the war will end soon. Do you think we will ever leave Korea, Germany or any other place we have fought a war? It will become another year rotation possibly a place someday families will PCS with their service member.

Hopefully, we'll never leave. We are still in Germany, Italy, and Japan. We helped to rebuild their countries and economies, and helped to make them successful. Hopefully, we'll do the same in Iraq.

We have hundreds of thousands of troops stationed all over the world, in at least 50 countries. Very nearly all of these countries would welcome more, rather than fewer, US Troops. They are a boost to the local economies and provide stablility to local governments. Believe it or not, this is viewed as a good thing. And many countries without a US presence, would welcome it.

Not a chance. Did you really think that all the lies that have been told since the beginning of this thing will ever come true? I hate to be pessimistic, but wake up. We are in over our heads and nothing we have done or ever will do will fix that region of the world. Unfortunately, our "politicians" or clowns as I think of them will never come clean so we will probably always have troops there now. We have since '91. Think about it.

being currently in the military, i ask you a question... why would we want to go home? we volunterred our selves to go fight, and what good would we do sitting over here? do yo know we have trrops die every day in other countires? we have bases all around the world. iraq is the only one to make the news. think about that for a minute, then get back to me.

Loved NRen2K5's answer. No, sadly, I don't believe it will end in 3 years. Some very credible guys (military) have projected as much as eight. & THEY know what's really going on. So the death toll will continue to rise, & for what? Stirred up a hornet's nest, didn't we? In spite of all facts to the contrary, we were warned of the wrath of god over weapons of mass destruction--I don't think much of beemotci's rationale, in essence, Better over THERE than HERE. Hmmm

Oh, don't you know? The Iraq War ended three years ago — the Iraqis welcomed us with open arms, and the country is totally at peace now and everybody is safe and happy! Just ask Rumsfeld, or any Republican browsing Yahoo Answers!
