Try using flexi rods. They are rollers that you can wrap your hair around and get spiral curls from them. Just wet your hair with setting lotion(can use wet or dry hair) and roll your hair around the rollers. Sit underneath a hooded dryer and allow your hair to dry. Remove the rollers and you should have really nice spiral curls.

I use 45 large, plastic, magnetic, rollers plus a setting lotion. I roll all the rollers sideways. That's how I wear my hair daily. That's how I do it. I have shoulder length spiral curls.

for loose spirals I usually section my hair in 5 parts (2 in front 1 in the middle and 2 in the back) spray just a little light spritz on the hair (don't soak it just a light misting) and twist each section to the point it starts to make a small bun, then secure it with a hair scrunchie and sleep in a satin bonnet, (they cost $2 at CVS) when you wake up undo the buns and finger through them real good

Use tube curlers either the ones that heat up or the ones that you put in wet hair and then let your hair dry. You can usually find them at the local thrift store, since they were huge in the late 80's.

pink sponge rollers. you can purchase them at wal-mart. they are very easy to use, however the curls tend to come out fairly tight. so to loosen them get a light serum or alittle wax on your fingertips and pull the curls out some.
