Throughout the course of questioning whether or not the devil is responsible for dispensing punshment in hell, Christians seem to reach a consensus that it is GOD, not Satan, who controls hell. If Satan were in control of hell, he would have to be an instrument of God. Just like a prison guard has to have allegiance to the judge in a human legal system. Criminals aren't prison guards.
One person stated that "the devil is in solitary confinement in hell." You may or may not agree with this statement.
A concept of punishment or confinement in hell would seem to mean that the devil is RESTRICTED from many, if not all activities, as any criminal in the human legal system.
If the devil is "IN HELL," how does he obtain the power of omnipresence, being able to be multiple places or all places at the same time -- OUTSIDE of hell and on Earth?!?!?!
It would seem that the devil is not really in hell, but EVERYWHERE. Does he float out of hell occasionally and then get sent back?

So some of you deny the claim that he is omnipresent based on scripture? He has demonic hordes to do his bidding? At the very least, there must be a number of demons equal to the number of humans on earth. That would be at least 8 billion demons. One demon would need to be assigned to each person to allow for the type of worldview expressed in the bible. All of these demons would have to act as mindless drones with no self identity to do exactly as Satan instructs. So the world is teeming with invisible demons that exist not only as pseudo-physical beings - but also as beings that can inhabit our psyches. Based on the claims of Christians and the Bible, it would seem that Demons somehow inhabit our thought processes tempting us to do the wrong things. They could also act as physical beings taking corporeal shape. This seems incredibly complex and preposterous.

the devil is not omnipresent he is a created being so he canot be in omore then one place at a time but thru his demons he does his work also the devil is not confined to the bottomles pit yet so he can go to hell but he is not omnipresent only GOD is. Rev 20:1 Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, holding in his hand the key to the bottomless pit [1] and a great chain. 2 And he seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years, 3 and threw him into the pit, and shut it and sealed it over him, so that he might not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were ended. After that he must be released for a little while.JESUS has the keys to hell and eath so all who believe in HIM will never see hell or taste spiritual death. Revelation 1:18
and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades

Who said or better yet, no where in the Bible dose it say that Satan is in hell or confined in hell.
Rev. 12: verses 7-9, 12, 20: verses 1-3.
Hell is the common grave of mankind not a fiery hell Rev. 20 verses 12-15, note verse 14.
Finally Rev. 21: 3-5.
Please read all the Bible scriptures. Don't miss any here.
Have a great day.

He is not in Hell yet. He is at this point is the ruler of the Air and the little god of this earth. God is using Him for His purposes allowing Satan to have temporary rule here. Satan actually has a "throne" in Persia. (Iran and Iraq area) and that is why he is also referred to the prince of Persia (somehwere in scripture, sorry not sure where). He is not omnipresent. He has many demonic slaves to do the work. He isn't going to do the work if he is ruling on a tempoary throne. He wants to be served. He does walk to and fro on the earth looking to devour, but he can only be in one place at one time. The spirits can travel too but they usually stay in the same places, and have what I call organized demonic crime.

The Bible's hell, as it appears in some versions, is no place for fallen angel, including Satan. It is nothing more than the common grave of mankind. In the book of Revelation 20:3, it shows Satan being abyssed for a thousand years. When he is released, he will have one more chance to turn mankind to his side. Soon after that, he and his demon angels will be wiped out forever.

The Bible doesn't teach either that Satan is in hell or that he is ominipresent. Instead it teaches that Satan and his demonic horde are here on earth until they finally are cast into the Lake of Fire. In the mean time, people who don't put their trust in Jesus are in Hell or Sheol or Hades which all refer to a place of torment where the dead apart from Christ await the resurrection of the damned before joining Satan in the Lake of Fire.
1 Peter 5:8 Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
"The poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham's side. The rich man also died and was buried, and in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side. And he called out, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in anguish in this flame.' Luke 16:22-24
"and the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever. Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. From his presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done. And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done. Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:10-15

that's an common one. No devil isn't omnipresent. basically God is. despite the fact that if, there are a number of demons and imps, satans squaddies, to catch and tempt people from Christ. God has a answer for that, he's known via fact the Holy Spirit.

Satan won't be confined to hell until the second coming of Christ. In the meantime he is often refereed to as the "God of this Earth". Satan and his angles (1/3 of the host of heaven) are here on earth in spirit form and mucking things up for the rest of us.

It's so crazy to me that you're actaully trying to compare the spiritual world to this physical world.
Ant is to dog as human is to God.
You can't even begin to comprehend what and how the afterlife will work. Neither can any of us. Just live a good life and when you die it won't matter how satan operates in hell.
