Judaism is a religion and a culture, not a race. An "observant" Jew is religious, but there are also secular Jews who participate in the rituals and traditions, and understand the common language (Hebrew and Yiddish), yet are not religious because they don't believe in God.
Jews have lived in the diaspora for 2000 years, meaning they have (and still do) live on every continent in the world. Arab Jews look like Arabs, Russian Jews look like Russians, Chinese Jews look like Chinese, African Jews look like Africans, and North American Jews look like North Americans.
There are many non-Jews converting to Judaism and are accepted as Jews just the same as born Jews -- as long as they practice the traditions of the line of Judaism they've accepted, i.e. Orthodox, Conservative, Reform, etc.
It was the Europeans who judged them to be of a different race and banned them from their countries. The UK is banning veils for Muslim women -- it won't be long until they judge Muslims a separate race and ban Muslims from their country (just like the Jews a few centuries ago). The veils make Christians "uncomfortable." The Muslims aren't like "us."

Jews are both a culture and a religion. There is no such thing as a different race. We are all human beings.
