I made a pot of chili and added to much red pepper. How can I cool it down and make it eatable? I hate to have to throw the whole pot out.

Guaranteed cure - cut up a couple potatoes (large chunks) then cook in the chili to rid it of too much spice - remove the spuds to serve - it works as I said guaranteed

Take a can of white kidney beans, drain them, mash them with a fork and stir them in. They will absorb some of the access capsicum oil taking the sting out each bite. It will help a little. The only other thing to do is add more of every other ingredient, lowering the percentage of hot peppers to the dish, but you'll be eating chili for days! And eating bread will take the sting out of your mouth......

If you get heavy handed with the chili powder in your Chili con Carne - dump in a can of crushed pineapple. It virtually disappears so no one knows that it is there, it leaves the flavor of the chili - but takes out the heat.

you can bring the chili back to a boil and add 3 whole carrots, they will absorb the acid and sting, boil UNCOVERED with a cup of water added and simmer for about 20mins. then throw the carrots away. you can also add a 1lb can of "Brooks Chili Mix With Beans" , thats better than diluting it. (the carrot thing really works)

What you need to do is add more ingredients except all your spicy hot ingredients, and add a little sugar. Make all you adjustments and taste it to your liking. Make more than enough to bring down some of the heat. After you do that, freeze the rest of it that you don't need now for another time later.

Add some more tomato's, or tomato juice, what ever you use. Try putting a spoon of sour cream in the individual bowls, prior to eating.
