Whenever I shave my legs, I ALWAYS get bad razor burn behind my knees and on my inner thighs. And I never get my bikini area done to my liking. What are some good products that actually tackle the hair at the root and not just the surface? I have tried waxes but I am pretty clumsy with them. Know a good depillatory like Epil Stop or Nair? And how do I prevent razor burn from occuring? Ok, that is more than one question but they are essentially related heh. Any help would be great! Thanks.

I hate body hair sometimes :P Actually most of the time.

I use a regular Venus Razor with thick shaving cream AND moisturizing hair conditioner (even something cheap like V05 will do) I will shave in the shower, so that the hot water will open up my pores. After shaving I use a rough bath sponge and exfoliate my legs/bikini area. Then I get out and pat dry. When completely dry, take some stick deodorant and run it in both directions on the freshly shaved area. Then apply 1% hydrocortisone cream over the same shaved area. After it dries, apply moisturizing lotion.

No razor burns at ALL. I have thick coarse hair and nothing helps except this. I also used to do this when I was an exotic dancer, as we had to keep smooth and burns were not attractive!

I'm a guy, but I talked to a salesperson at the Art of Shaving Store and he told me that you had to use a pre-shave oil to get a real quality shave. The product was about $22 bucks, but I found a recipe for it on the internet that works great. Use 2 parts castor oil to 1 part olive oil. You can make a small batch just to experiment, like 2TB castor oil, 1TB olive oil. Then add a couple of drops of your favorite essential oil. I use lemon oil. Really helps the quality of the shave. Try it, I think you'll like it. Don't worry, the oil rinses off easily. Oh, and still use shaving cream though. The pre-shave oil is just that, a prep for the area to be shaved. Good luck!
