Yes, dreaming can be spiritual.
The final prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said that "Nothing remains of Prophethood except true dreams". and also "True dreams are 1/46th of prophethood"
The dreams of the Prophets were revelation from God, for example the dream of the Prophet Joseph (pbuh) when he saw (as a child) the Sun and the Moon and 11 stars prostrating to him. This dream was realised later in his life, when he became an authority in Egypt and his parents(represented by the Sun and Moon) and his brothers all prostrated to him. (Prostration to a human was allowed at that time but is NOT allowed at all in Islam)
In the early stages of prophethood, Muhammad (pbuh) would see a dream and see it realised the next day.
Dreams are of three types:
1) Those from the self - for example a person is thinking about someone/something during the day and then dreams about it. These are insignificant
2) Spiritual dreams/true dreams- ie from God. These are when a person sees something and it happens as it is or a person sees something symbolic, which needs to be interpreted.. These dreams are usually very memorable and have specific details. However, a person cannot assume that just because they have one true dream, all their dreams will be like premonitions. The person will only know after the dream has come true.
3) Nightmares/dreams from Satan - any dream which makes you worried/wake up in a sweat! This is from the devil and should be ignored.
The prophet Muhammad (pbuh) also related that true dreams will become common towards the Day of Judgement.

I believe that every part of our lives can be spiritual. Dreaming is just the mind functioning at a different level.

Yes. I recommend reading the book of Daniel and the story of Joseph in Genesis.
Joel 2:28 says- It will come about after this
That I will pour out My Spirit on all mankind;
And your sons and daughters will prophecy,
Your old men will dream dreams,
Your young men will see visions.
Pray and ask God if the dreams you are having are from Him.
Hope this helps.

Definitely! A week before September 11, my sister had a dream where a giant foot stepped on two tall towers with a maniacal laugh in the background. (I know she didn't make it up because she told me about it the next morning.) If that's not spiritual, I don't know what else it could be.

I believe that God can talk to you in dreams. It is recorded in the Bible that He did so on numerous occasions. I have actually had a 'dream' I believe came from God. Basically, I fell asleep praying about my eldest daughter (when she was first-born). God assured me that she would be saved. When I awoke I was filled with peace. That was 27 years ago. Both of my children have since accepted the Lord Jesus as their savior.

Some dreams are spiritual and some are not. Sean is right about some, but not all. (Sorry, Sean.)
When you sleep, it is often how spirit comes to you, as it would freak you out if you were awake.

Of course, many dreams can send messages about something going on in your life or about to happen.
