bear : kuma
grizzly bear : gurizuri
We call grizzly bear grizzly. Same in English. But we call it with Japanese accent, gurizuri that is pronounced like goo lee zoo lee.
We don't have the L sound and the R sound. In this case, I think L sound may be similar to our R sound.

Chan, your second word kuma written in hiragana and kanji is both for the word cloud!!
Please don't give wrong information out to the world~! it should read kumo-cloud
all others are correct kuma is bear. shiro is white, so shirokuma is polar (white) bear. kuro is black so kurokuma is black bear. and there aren't any grizzlies in Japan, so we use the western pronounciation into Japanese as written. gu ri zu rii....
