The reasons why I want to fast is because I want to be more religious and accept god into my life, and I heard fasting is a great way to break bad habbits, which is another thing I want to work on. Im willing to surrender. I am overweight and I need to lose about 35 pds. I want to start off with a 3 day fast of juice then maybe eventually try a complete water fast. I have heard good and bad things about fasting and I would like someones opinion who has done it for the same reasons I want to do it. I just want to be a healthier more spiritual being. I heard that with the 21 day fast you can completely change your life. My uncle has passed away about 5 years ago and he fasted for 30 days and said it was the best thing that had ever happened to him. Unfortunately he passed and I couldtn talk to him about it. Can anyone help me out?

Hi Dianna

Ive done many juice fasts including the 21 day fast and will be doing another one in the next week or so. I do this for my health, but mainly to teach people the importance to clean out the toxins in the body. Here is my daily regimen.

Drink 20 ounces of water first thing in the morning (my daily ritule anyway) after waking up (shower ect)

First I juice 30 ounces of vegetables in the morning and mix it with 30 ounces of distilled water. I am usually using herbs while on my fasts. Like colon cleansing capsules to start with.

Ill also make my afternoon juice (30 ounces of carrot, apple, and ginger) and drink again with 30 ounces of water. (note it's best to drink the juice right after your done juicing because it has the highest nutritional value at that time)

Ill drink herbal teas and tons of water all during the day. And make another vegetable drink usually with garlic to kill any issues inside the body.

Points to remember:
a) use organic vegetables and fruits (evne garlic and ginger)
B) distilled water
c) Prepare yourself mentally you dont need food. Hard concept to grasp, but the 1st 2 days are usually the hardest. When you get hungry though, just drink more fluids.
d) be prepared to use the bathroom every hour
e) Plenty of energy mentally and physically, if you use a product like Superfood (more nutrition) at healmarketplace.com

My Uncle also did a juicefast for 70 days! He had Lympnomia and healed himself completely! He did more then the juice fast of course and the program he used was the incurable program (also at healmarketplace.com). He didnt look so good (165 pounds at start weight and ended up around 130) when he finished, but he also said his health never felt better in his whole life. He is going on 2 years strong.

By the way also I lost 21 pounds in the 21 days I did mine. I was not interested in this, but I know people are so I kept track of it.

Need more info let me know.

Best of of health to you

Cheers

Fasting isn't a great way to lose weight. Your metabolism will basically shut down. You need to eat 5-8 small meals throughout the day to increase your metabolism. Also start exercising. Lean muscle mass burns more calories and does so faster than not having the muscle mass. It will take approximately three months to adjust your metabolism but it will be worth the effort. Also, drinking 64 oz of water daily will help you shed 3 to 10 pounds in the first week. Typically people don't get enough water, therefore their body retains what water it does get in an attempt to save the water it gets. If you drink the appropriate amount of water daily it will flush many of the toxins out of your body that you're hoping to achieve by fasting. Also your body will shed the excess water it has been storing and you'll drop the water weight fast. Caffeine and nicotine are big killers concerning your metabolism too. They confuse the body's metabolic rate. Remember it took a while to put the weight on - its going to take awhile to take it off. There are not quick fixes. But if you follow the things if mentioned above for a few weeks you'll be pleased with the results and they will happen quicker than you would guess.

Fasting is a great way to rid the body from a bunch of bad things. But, you have to drink a lot of liquid, especially water, to keep from getting dehydrated. Also, some type of broth (chicken or beef) is good to have while fasting. Juice is good for the vitamins, which the body also needs. I have never fasted for three days. The longest fast I have ever done was about 40 hours. Generally, I will do a 24 hour fast once or twice a month.

I did a 3 day fast, more for physical reasons. I lost about 10 pounds, which was almost all water weight except maybe 1 or 2. The thing is if you fast and lose weight, youll gain it all back because your metabolism has slowed down.

You can get far enough if you do EXACTLY this. I DID THIS AND IT WORKS. Every day for three weeks you need to go outside and jog. ai would start at 12 minutes a day. You need to make sure you stretch very well before you do this. When the second week comes, run every day for 14 minutes and when the third comes 16 minutes. Every day after you are done running, walk for about 5 minutes to cool down. Then run 50 yard sprints. Four a day for week 1, 6 for week 2, and 8 for week three. After your sprints it is VERY IMPORTANT that you stretch even better than your pre-jog strectch. Throughout the three weeks drink only water and possibly milk or oj in the morning. THIS WILL WORK. Ive done it myself.

Once, many years ago I fasted for three days.
eating only two or three fist size breads a day and water.
It was hard, but good for my health.

The only problem is that when you finish fasting your taste buds are more sensible to all flavors and you have a strong desire to eat as much as possible.

Anyhow this desire is possible to control and if you do, and start eating normally but reducing the amount of food you will start loosing weight.

You can do this strictly only ONCE a month at the most.

3 days is a long time before doing anything you should take to a doctor and see what they have to say. In my culture we fast for 30 days but we are allowed to eat after the sun is down and it makes you feel more centered and don't worry about the little things in life.
