Hi, my dog who is a year old got fixed at 3 months old, but just tonight she tried to hump my fathers leg (eww) is that normal for cockapoos (half poodle and cockerpaniel) to still have sexual feelings after they've been fixed?

This is the first time she's ever tried it at all.

Actually I think it is normal for any dog even if they are fixed. I believe "humping" isn't always a sexual thing for dogs but a way for them to show their dominance over someone or something. That's why female dogs do it as well.

Animals don't necessarily know they're fixed! Both males and females do this! It's like when a woman has a hysterectomy. Even though she doesn't have PMS or a period, she can still go through the motions, so to speak. It can be triggered by a scent, or by the actions of another animal. I have a dog who had puppies 8 months ago. She had to have a c-section, so I got her spayed. I kept one of the puppies. The puppy just went into her first heat, and they both humped each other for days! I don't think they know why they do it, they just do it!

OH YEAH a dog is a dog is a dog...animal or human! heehee
our pup got fixed at 4months old..we had to lie and say he was 6months old...although now they do babie boy dogs even younger if they have to! and it kinda knocked the HUMP outta him..he had just begun to hump...so even with the stiches he still tryed .it took about 3months for him to quit. he is 6now and has totally forgot about it. Dont get me wrong..he still sniffs at em but never humps :) im thinking your baby had a long time to practice or try it out and will need more time to "readjust" :)
good luck...tell ur dad to watch his leg and move it next time :)

Just because their are fixed doesn't mean they don;t want to do the nasty. My dog is fixed and so is my female, and the male has started to hump on her. But to no avail because my female dog, does not allow that, she fights him.

Yes, that's very common. He's still a male. My dog is 9 1/2 years old and he still thinks he's a stud muffin!

I don't think it's a breed thing. I have had many dogs, and some do and some don't. Treat it like potty training and scold the dog when she does it. It should go away when she realizes it is an unacceptable behavior.

Your dog is trying to show dominance. It is not a sexual thing. I had to ask my vet because my female does the same thing.
