I inherted a 1986 ford F150 with a 302 and 4 speed manual. Is it possible to change it out to a 5 speed overdrive? Is it a easy switch or will it work at all? The trans and clutch is starting to go so I was wondering to change it out with the same or one with overdrive

Yes it is possible. It should be some what easy, you may have to change the transmission crossmemeber and mount, and also the driveshaft

Yes you can do this, and it is not hard.
Get a 5 speed from a junkyard, preferable out of a truck, even if newer.
I would go 5 speed also.

I have a '86 F350 Diesel that I will be doing this to, as money allows.

yes, you could use something like a tremec T-5, you may need to alter the length of the driveshaft also
